Precision CNC Machining, Inc. is seeking an experienced CNC Programmer to join our growing team in Oxnard, California. We are an AS9100D and ISO 9001:2015 certified precision machine shop serving the aerospace, defense, automotive, and other high-precision industries.
We are looking for someone who can take a job from print and CAD model through programming, setup, first article, and production. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on machining knowledge and understands how to develop efficient, reliable processesnot simply create toolpaths.
Responsibilities
- Program CNC mills and Lathes
- Program and support 3-axis and 5-axis milling operations
- Develop complete machining processes from engineering drawings and CAD models
- Select appropriate tooling, workholding, speeds, feeds, and cutting strategies
- Create efficient roughing, finishing, drilling, tapping, and 3D machining toolpaths
- Optimize existing programs to improve cycle time, tool life, and part quality
- Assist machinists with setups, prove-outs, and troubleshooting
- Establish proper work offsets, tool offsets, and setup procedures
- Work with tight-tolerance aerospace and precision-machined components
- Read and interpret complex engineering drawings, GD&T, dimensions, tolerances, and surface-finish requirements
- Troubleshoot dimensional, tooling, chatter, finish, and machining issues
- Work closely with production and inspection personnel to ensure parts meet customer requirements
- Maintain organized programs, setup information, tooling information, and revisions
- Follow all company quality procedures and AS9100D / ISO 9001 requirements
Qualifications
- 3+ years of CNC programming experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of CNC milling and Lathe machining processes
- Experience programming Haas CNC equipment is highly preferred
- Experience with 5-axis machining and rotary/trunnion work is a major plus
- Ability to program directly from CAD models and engineering drawings
- Strong understanding of GD&T and tight-tolerance machining
- Strong knowledge of cutting tools, speeds and feeds, workholding, and machining strategies
- Experience machining materials such as aluminum, stainless steel, alloy steel, and engineering plastics
- Ability to independently troubleshoot programs and machining processes
- Experience with aerospace or defense manufacturing is preferred
- Must be dependable, organized, detail-oriented, and focused on producing quality work
Our Equipment & Capabilities
Our CNC department includes Haas VF-series vertical machining centers, Haas ST-series CNC lathes, and 5-axis capability using a Haas TRT210 trunnion. We manufacture a wide variety of precision components, from prototypes and small runs to production work.
What We're Looking For
We want a programmer who understands what actually happens at the machine. You should be comfortable looking at a print or model, determining how the part should be held and machined, selecting the right tools, programming the job, and working with the machinist through a successful first-piece prove-out.
