Part-Time ESL Instructor / Academic Assistant
An accredited English language school in Huntingdon Valley, PA, is seeking a Part-Time ESL Instructor / Academic Assistant to join our academic team.
This position combines approximately 15 hours of classroom teaching per week with approximately 7.5–10 hours of academic support and administrative work, for a total of about 22.5–25 hours per week.
We are looking for an experienced ESL instructor who enjoys teaching adult students and would also like to take on a larger role within the academic program. In addition to teaching, this person will work closely with faculty and school leadership, support instructors with academic questions and materials, assist with curriculum and assessments, and help with the day-to-day academic operations of the school.
This is intended to be a consistent, long-term part-time position. Schedules are planned in advance each semester.
Schedule
- Approximately 15 teaching hours per week
- Approximately 7.5–10 academic support and administrative hours per week
- Approximately 22.5–25 total paid hours per week
- Primarily daytime schedule
- Some evening teaching may be included depending on the semester schedule and instructor availability
- Consistent schedule once assigned
- Additional teaching or academic support hours may become available depending on enrollment, staffing needs, and instructor availability
Compensation & Instructor Support
- $23–$30 per teaching hour, based on education and experience
- Academic support and administrative hours are paid separately at a different hourly rate

Our instructors work within an established academic program and are not expected to develop courses from scratch. The school provides curriculum guidelines, syllabi, common assessments, grading rubrics, instructional materials, and academic support.
Responsibilities
- Teach ESL courses to adult international and domestic students
- Prepare and deliver lessons appropriate to assigned courses and levels
- Work closely with faculty and provide day-to-day academic support
- Assist with curriculum, assessments, instructional materials, and academic procedures
- Help coordinate common assessments and maintain academic materials and records
- Assist with educational technology and learning-management systems
- Support school leadership with academic projects, substitute coverage, and accreditation-related requirements as needed
Qualifications
- Master’s degree required, preferably in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, Education, Second Language Acquisition, English, or a related field
- Minimum one year of adult ESL/EFL teaching experience required
- Experience supporting, mentoring, or supervising instructors preferred
- Strong communication, organization, classroom-management, and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable using educational technology and learning-management systems
- Must be able to work in person in Huntingdon Valley, PA
