Freed Industrial Services (FIS) is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Project Accountant to join our team in Bethlehem, PA. This position plays a critical role in supporting project operations through accurate financial reporting, job cost tracking, billing, and accounting support. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and possess strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Essential Responsibilities
- Maintain financial records for multiple projects from inception through completion.
- Monitor and analyze project costs, budgets, commitments, and revenue.
- Prepare and submit customer billings in accordance with contract requirements.
- Review and reconcile project-related accounts, including labor, materials, subcontractors, and equipment costs.
- Assist project managers with budget tracking, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Prepare project cost reports and variance analyses.
- Process and track subcontractor invoices and related documentation.
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Maintain compliance with company policies, accounting procedures, and contractual requirements.
- Collaborate with Operations, Payroll, Accounts Payable, and Project Management teams.
- Assist with audits and special projects as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience; project or construction accounting experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of job costing, budgeting, and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software systems.
- Ability to analyze financial data and identify discrepancies.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in construction, industrial services, or project-based industries.
- Knowledge of contract billing, percentage-of-completion accounting, and cost tracking methodologies.
- Familiarity with ERP/accounting software systems.
