Job Title: Maintenance Supervisor

Job Description

The Maintenance Supervisor serves as the lead maintenance technician and supervisor for all shifts and all processes within a connector manufacturing environment. This role oversees the safety, reliability, and performance of all automation and hand-fill equipment, manages a team of technicians, and partners closely with engineering, quality, and customer service to support automated manufacturing operations and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Maintenance Technician Supervisor and lead technician for all shifts and all connector manufacturing processes.
  • Ensure the general safety, reliability, and proper operation of all automation and hand-fill equipment.
  • Coordinate schedules for the technical group so that all manufacturing operations have adequate technician coverage across all shifts.
  • Manage maintenance staff, including providing direction, coaching, performance evaluations, and corrective action when necessary.
  • Oversee the timely procurement of tools, supplies, and equipment required for the technician staff to perform their work effectively and efficiently.
  • Plan, coordinate, and lead projects on existing machinery to improve product quality, throughput, and safety.
  • Own and manage the preventive maintenance program for all manufacturing process-related equipment to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Work closely with engineering, quality, and customer service departments to investigate and resolve issues related to automated manufacturing.
  • Interface with engineering on tooling and machinery for new projects and products associated with automated manufacturing.
  • Apply troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and automation-related issues on automated machinery.
  • Promote and enforce safe work practices in all maintenance activities and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Potentially handle hazardous materials in accordance with established procedures and safety guidelines.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment performance, process reliability, and operational efficiency.
  • Provide hands-on technical support on the production floor as needed, including during off-shifts, to support technicians and resolve critical issues.

Essential Skills

  • 5+ years of experience working as a technician on automated machines in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience supervising and managing a larger technical team, ideally 15 or more people.
  • Strong maintenance background with practical, hands-on knowledge of automated machinery.
  • Ability to work effectively alongside engineering teams and understand engineering activities and requirements.
  • Electrical troubleshooting skills related to automated machines and manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance programs and practices for production machinery.
  • Knowledge of hydraulics and mechanical systems used in automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate schedules and allocate resources across multiple shifts.
  • Capability to manage procurement of maintenance tools, supplies, and equipment.
  • Ability to investigate and resolve issues in collaboration with engineering, quality, and customer service.
  • Must have 20/40 correctable vision.
  • Must be capable of lifting up to 70 lbs. from floor to waist.
  • Full use of all digits and ability to perform manual tasks required for maintenance work.
  • Ability to stand and/or sit for more than 90 minutes continuously without sensory deprivation or paralysis of the limbs.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Engineering degree preferred, with the ability to collaborate closely with engineering teams.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Technical education or certification as a Machinist or Journeyman Toolmaker is desirable.
  • Experience in engineering management or leading technical projects in a manufacturing setting.
  • background in automation and automated machinery within a production environment.
  • Experience supervising or leading a team of maintenance technicians across multiple shifts.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage preventive maintenance, projects, and staff schedules.
  • Comfort working in an environment that may involve handling hazardous materials, following appropriate safety protocols.

Work Environment

This role is primarily a first-shift position with responsibility for overseeing technicians across all shifts, so flexibility and comfort with a swing-shift oversight model are important. The work takes place in a connector manufacturing facility that utilizes automated machines, automation equipment, hand-fill equipment, and hydraulic systems. The environment features very nice working conditions and a large, well-equipped break room for employees. The position involves hands-on work around production machinery and may include handling hazardous materials in accordance with safety procedures. Physical aspects of the work include standing or sitting for extended periods, lifting up to 70 lbs. from floor to waist, and performing manual tasks requiring full use of all digits. The role regularly interfaces with engineering, quality, and customer service teams and uses standard maintenance tools and equipment to support automated manufacturing operations.

This is a Permanent position based out of New Albany, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $100000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
