Essentra supplies low-cost components used by manufacturing companies in their manufacturing process. Our primary target is B2B Manufacturers (i.e. companies who build products used by other manufacturing companies).
The Erie, PA facility of Essentra employs a wide variety of methods to manufacture these components such as injection molding, vinyl dip molding, die/flash cutting, laser engraving, and a variety of secondary assembly processes.
Job Description Summary:
We are hiring a Process Engineer for our Erie, PA location. This is an onsite role, and we are considering local candidates only. The Process Engineer will sample new injection mold tooling, find acceptable processes for future production runs, provide input on processing challenges, and provide any necessary training requirements.
Typical Accountabilities:
• Sample new injection mold tooling.
• Research, explore, and recommend acceptable processes for future production runs.
• Apply statistical methods to improve process capability and reduce process variation.
• Follow all safety and quality standards within the facility.
•Provide technical troubleshooting to solve process and product problems.
• Create new process procedures and deliver related training as needed.
• Participate in continuous improvement projects.
• Perform related job duties as assigned and required.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in plastics engineering preferred, or equivalent experience in plastics
• 4 years’ experience of injection molding processing experience.
• Mechanical and technical skill.
• Proficiency with automation (sprue pickers, servo robots, etc) preferred.
• Basic math and computer skills.
• Ability to work with auxiliary equipment such as dryers, thermolators, hot runners, color meters, etc.
• A team player who is self-motivated.
• Ability to work independently.
• Good interpersonal, and communication skills (oral and written).
• Ability to balance multiple priorities.
• Attention to detail.
• Good problem-solving skills.
• Focused on safety and knowledgeable of safety requirements used in a manufacturing environment.
• Must be able to handle stressful situations.
• Good eyesight and color perception for attribute inspection and color matching.
