Cook | Olympic View Post Acute | $23–$25/hour

Do you take pride in preparing meals that make people feel cared for? Olympic View Post Acute is looking for an experienced Cook to lead meal preparation for our residents, ensuring every dish is nutritious, flavorful, and served with care.

What You'll Do

  • Prepare palatable, nutritionally balanced meals in institutional quantities according to menus, recipes, and each resident's diet type

  • Cook and adjust food quantities based on census to avoid over- or under-production

  • Supervise kitchen staff on food prep, tray assembly, and cleaning/storage of supplies and equipment

  • Prepare food substitutes to accommodate resident choices, cultural, ethnic, and religious preferences

  • Participate in inventory ordering and receiving of stock and supplies

  • Monitor resident acceptance of menu items and report findings to the Dietary Services Supervisor

  • Operate food preparation equipment safely and per manufacturer guidelines, following cleaning and maintenance schedules

  • Handle, store, and dispose of food in compliance with facility policy and applicable regulations

  • Maintain sanitary food prep and storage areas, following infection control procedures and using PPE as needed

  • Inspect work areas for pests, safety hazards, or maintenance issues and report/correct promptly

  • Support survey readiness and interact professionally with state surveyors as directed

  • Attend in-services and apply training to daily tasks

What You'll Need

  • Working knowledge of food handling, preparation, and storage regulations

  • Ability to read and follow menus, tray tickets, and substitution lists; strong communication skills

  • Reliable attendance and punctuality, including weekends and holidays

  • Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform continuous bending, squatting, and reaching

  • Ability to pass an annual TB screening and physical exam

  • Comfort working in a skilled nursing environment
