The Role
We are seeking a strategic and dynamic Industrial Engineer to lead our efforts in optimizing processes, improving operational efficiency, and driving productivity across the organization. This role is responsible for designing, analyzing, and improving work and material flows, designing and implementing process improvements, and supporting data-driven decision-making to enhance overall performance. This role focuses on improving material flow efficiency, reducing costs, and increasing throughput across warehouse and plant operations. The ideal candidate is an innovative, analytical leader with a passion for problemsolving, operational excellence, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and sustainable growth.
This position is based on-site at our Louisville, KY facility and reports to the VP of Operations as part of the Corporate Team.
What You’ll Do
- Material Flow, Storage, and Layout Design:
- Design and develop material storage plans for new program launches and major program changes, including PFEP creation, warehouse and floor layouts, pallet racking, signage, lineside racks/risers, and material presentation solutions.
- Analyze current and future material flow, labor utilization, and space utilization for new and existing plants or warehouse space
- Lead layout development and changes for continuous improvement initiatives, engineering changes, major program additions, scope changes, new business, and office or floor modifications.
- Maximize storage utilization for all materials and ensure efficient flow throughout the plant while maintaining optimal efficiency for travel and pick times and potential expansion opportunities
- Ensure all facility layouts comply with relevant safety regulations and building codes (aisles, exits, stairways, etc.).
- Maintain uptodate plant drawings and documentation for all facility aspects, inclusive of scope changes, new business, or other required modifications.
- Packaging Engineering and Launch Support:
- Design, develop, and buyoff packaging for new programs, program changes, and quote opportunities.
- Support launch activities by collaborating with floor supervisors, material handlers, and line stockers to ensure smooth material flow.
- Prepare quotes related to layout, packaging, and material flow for new business opportunities, scope changes, and future expansion opportunities.
- Process Optimization and Industrial Engineering Studies:
- Develop and maintain labor standards using time studies for assembly processes, sequence operations, and material handling activities.
- Perform ergonomic evaluations and implement improvements to reduce risks and enhance efficiency.
- Analyze material flow to reduce excess handling and streamline plant operations.
- Participate in plant continuous improvement initiatives and support the Great Ideas program.
- Project Management and Coordination
- Implement and maintain materials organization systems, part mapping, and equipment location plans across manufacturing and warehouse operations.
- Manage project tracking, reporting, and risk mitigation activities, especially during program launches.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors to execute layout, storage, and process changes effectively. This includes but is not limited to Operations, Transportation, IT, etc.
- Ensure thorough documentation of all activities and adhere to company safety guidelines, including emergency evacuation requirements.
- Additional Responsibilities:
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Who You Are
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or relevant field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in manufacturing and assembly operations.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles, including training and/or handson implementation experience.
- Strong statistical and labor analysis capabilities, including proficiency in conducting time studies.
- Proficient in AutoCAD for layout and design applications.
- Strong computer skills, including advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access).
- Strong presentation skills, including presentations to senior and C-Suite executives
- Solid mechanical and technical aptitude.
- Formal training in problemsolving methodologies.
- Demonstrated leadership, organization, and communication skills.
Health, Safety, Physical & Travel Requirements
- Normal amount of sitting and standing, average mobility to move around an office and plant environment, able to conduct normal amount of work on a computer.
- Up to 50% travel required
- Valid driver’s license required
