Senior FIS Controls Engineer / PLC Programmer

Senior FIS Controls Engineer / PLC Programmer with strong experience in Factory Information Systems (FIS), automotive manufacturing, and PLC controls. This role focuses heavily on supporting FIS integration with automated production equipment, including vehicle production data, PLC communication, troubleshooting, testing, and launch support.

Strong experience with Allen-Bradley (Rockwell) PLCs, Siemens PLCs, industrial automation, commissioning, and production launch is required.

This is a long-term, day-shift assignment at a Louisville manufacturing facility, approximately 5–6 days per week and 40+ hours per week.

Responsibilities:

  • Support and troubleshoot Factory Information Systems (FIS) and their interface with PLC-controlled equipment.
  • Develop, modify, and maintain PLC programs for automated automotive manufacturing equipment.
  • Troubleshoot FIS-to-PLC communication, production data, sequencing, interlocks, and equipment handshakes.
  • Perform advanced PLC troubleshooting, debugging, and root cause analysis to minimize production downtime.
  • Support commissioning, equipment startup, testing, validation, and production launch activities.
  • Program and troubleshoot Allen-Bradley (Rockwell) PLCs and Siemens PLCs.
  • Support automated assembly equipment, HMI systems, robotics interfaces, and industrial networks.
  • Provide hands-on production support during launch and ongoing manufacturing operations.
  • Maintain PLC revisions, backups, controls documentation, and technical records.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting FIS within an automotive manufacturing environment.
  • Strong experience integrating and troubleshooting FIS and PLC systems.
  • Advanced PLC programming and troubleshooting experience.
  • Hands-on experience with Allen-Bradley (Rockwell) PLCs and/or Siemens PLCs.
  • Experience with ladder logic, sequencing, interlocks, and automated equipment controls.
  • Experience supporting commissioning, startup, testing, and production launch.
  • Strong controls troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in active production environments.
  • Experience with industrial automation, HMI systems, robotics, and industrial communication networks preferred.
  • Ability to work day shift, approximately 5–6 days per week and 40+ hours per week.
