Job Title: Machine Operator AssistantJob Description

We are seeking a reliable and mechanically inclined Machine Operator Assistant to support manufacturing operations in a fast-paced production environment. This role works alongside machine operators and production personnel to help set up, operate, monitor, and maintain manufacturing equipment. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, enjoys hands-on work, and is eager to learn machine operation, troubleshooting, and quality inspection processes.

Responsibilities
  • Assist machine operators with machine setup, tooling changes, and production changeovers.
  • Load raw materials and unload finished products from machines.
  • Monitor machine operation and notify operators or supervisors of any issues.
  • Perform basic machine adjustments and assist with machine offsets as directed.
  • Conduct quality checks using calipers, gauges, and other measuring tools.
  • Read work instructions, blueprints, and job specifications to ensure production requirements are met.
  • Assist with troubleshooting equipment and resolving minor mechanical issues.
  • Support preventative maintenance activities and routine equipment cleaning.
  • Safely operate multiple machines under the guidance of experienced operators.
  • Maintain accurate production and quality records.
  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards.
  • Work closely with operators, technicians, and supervisors to meet daily production goals.
Required Qualifications
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in manufacturing equipment and machinery.
  • Experience in manufacturing, production, warehouse, assembly, construction, automotive, or a related hands-on environment preferred.
  • Ability to safely use hand tools and basic power tools.
  • Basic understanding of measurements and willingness to learn precision inspection techniques.
  • Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic math calculations.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift materials as required.
  • Dependable, team-oriented, and eager to learn new skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience assisting machine operators or working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with calipers, micrometers, gauges, or other measuring instruments.
  • Experience with machine setups, material handling, or mechanical troubleshooting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Middletown, CT.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45000.00 - $67000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
