NACHES AREA EMPLOYER LOOKING TO HIRE AN EXPERIENCED LINE COOK.

Type of Employment: Full Time

Wage: $19 - $23 per hour DOE + Tip Pool

JOB SUMMARY:

We are looking for an experienced Line Cook to prepare food to the exact chef’s specifications and to set up stations for the menu. Line Cook duties will consist of assisting the executive and sous chef with their daily tasks. The successful candidate will play a key role in contributing to our customer satisfaction and acquisition goals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Set up and stocking stations with all necessary supplies.
  • Prepare food for service (e.g. chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or preparing sauces)
  • Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff.
  • Answer, report and follow executive or sous chef’s instructions.
  • Stock inventory appropriately.
  • Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion.
  • Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards.
  • Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers.
  • Ensure ingredients and final products are fresh.
  • Follow recipes, including measuring, weighing and mixing ingredients.
  • Bake, grill, steam and boil meats, vegetables, fish, poultry and other foods.
  • Present, garnish and arrange final dishes.
  • Occasionally serve food.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area, including handling utensils, equipment and dishes.
  • Handle and store ingredients and food.
  • Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, and utensils.
  • Execute opening and closing procedures.
  • Set up workstations with required ingredients and equipment.
  • Check the quality and freshness of ingredients.
  • Monitor station inventory levels.
  • Accommodate guests’ special requests.
  • Operate kitchen equipment such as broilers, ovens, grills and fryers.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proven experience as cook
  • Experience in using cutting tools, cookware, and bakeware.
  • Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling etc.)
  • Ability to follow all sanitation procedures.
  • Ability to work in a team setting.
  • Very good communication skills
  • Excellent physical condition and stamina
  • Diploma from a culinary school will be an advantage.
  • Excellent kitchen administration knowledge.
  • Strong organization and active listening skills
  • The ability to work on your feet for most of the day and lift 30 pounds at a time.
  • Exceptional time management skills
  • Food Handlers Certificate
