Job Title: Manufacturing EngineerJob Description

This Manufacturing Engineer role focuses on driving continuous improvement across production by applying lean and Six Sigma methodologies, developing robust manufacturing processes, and supporting the introduction of new products and equipment. The position works closely with cross-functional teams, production personnel, customers, and suppliers to ensure efficient, high-quality manufacturing and assembly operations, particularly within electronics and aerospace-related environments.

Responsibilities
  • Create, lead, and execute continuous improvement projects using lean and Six Sigma tools to enhance efficiency, quality, and cost performance.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to support root cause and corrective action (RCCA) activities on corrective action requests (CARs).
  • Lead the development of manufacturing processes, procedures, and tooling for new products to ensure smooth and efficient production launch.
  • Plan and lead the implementation of new manufacturing equipment, including coordination of installation, validation, and handover to production.
  • Design manufacturing processes, work instructions, and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, and material handling to optimize workflow and safety.
  • Train production personnel on the proper use and execution of tools, processes, and procedures, ensuring consistent adherence to standards.
  • Support production operations and personnel by resolving technical issues and providing engineering guidance on day-to-day manufacturing challenges.
  • Estimate labor hours for new and existing products, providing accurate input for planning, costing, and quoting.
  • Create and update routing information, including cycle times, notes, and process steps, to reflect current production practices.
  • Communicate with customers, vendors, and suppliers on technical issues related to projects, ensuring clear and timely information flow.
  • Design, test, and validate tooling and fixtures to support efficient, repeatable, and safe manufacturing operations.
  • Develop and implement data collection plans for parts and processes to understand process behavior and drive data-based decision making.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation to translate design intent into effective manufacturing solutions.
  • Define problems, collect and analyze data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions to support process improvements and issue resolution.
  • Prepare and deliver clear presentations and reports to stakeholders, responding to questions from internal and external partners.
Essential Skills
  • Working understanding of Six Sigma and lean manufacturing concepts and their application in a production environment.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams on projects, including continuous improvement and RCCA initiatives.
  • Professional knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes, including work measurement and work standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and translate them into manufacturing processes and instructions.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and customers.
  • Ability to interpret a wide variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and manage abstract and concrete variables.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • CAD/CAM software experience, such as SolidWorks, Mastercam, or similar tools.
  • Intermediate-level computer skills with e-mail, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment in making decisions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Background in manufacturing engineering, with exposure to process improvement, lean manufacturing, electronics, assembly, and aerospace environments.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience in electronics and aerospace manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with routing creation and maintenance, including cycle time estimation and documentation.
  • Experience designing, testing, and validating tooling and fixtures.
  • Experience developing and delivering training for production personnel on processes, procedures, and tools.
  • Comfort working with both abstract concepts and detailed technical data in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
Work Environment

The role operates in a manufacturing and assembly environment, with a strong focus on process improvement, lean manufacturing, and Six Sigma practices. You will work closely with production floors, equipment installation areas, and engineering offices, collaborating with cross-functional teams, customers, vendors, and suppliers. The position involves regular use of CAD/CAM tools such as SolidWorks and Mastercam, as well as standard office software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio. Expect a mix of hands-on work on the shop floor and analytical work at a computer, supporting electronics and aerospace-related products and processes in a structured, technical, and continuous-improvement-driven setting.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Carson, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $125000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
