Litigation Legal Assistant

Location: Troy, MI

Compensation: $58,000 - $68,000

About the Opportunity

A growing law firm is seeking an experienced Litigation Legal Assistant to support attorneys and paralegals in a busy litigation practice. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented legal professional with strong experience in litigation support, court filings, case management, and document preparation. The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and possess exceptional organizational and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare, edit, and manage legal correspondence, pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery materials, and other litigation documents.
  • Maintain and organize client and matter files in accordance with firm policies and best practices.
  • Assist with case management by monitoring deadlines, tracking case activity, and coordinating litigation-related tasks.
  • Format, proofread, and electronically file documents in state and federal courts.
  • Manage attorney calendars, including scheduling hearings, depositions, meetings, travel, and other litigation-related events.
  • Track court deadlines, filing requirements, discovery responses, and litigation milestones.
  • Process attorney expense reports and provide general administrative support.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all client and case information.
  • Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to ensure matters are handled efficiently and accurately.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of litigation legal assistant or legal support experience.
  • Strong knowledge of litigation procedures, discovery processes, and legal terminology.
  • Experience with state and federal court filings, including e-filing systems.
  • Ability to prepare tables of contents, tables of authorities, and other complex legal documents.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including proofreading and editing.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining a high level of accuracy and productivity.
  • Professional demeanor when interacting with attorneys, clients, court personnel, and opposing counsel.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat; experience with legal software platforms is a plus.
  • Appellate court filing experience is preferred.
