The Production Supervisor oversees second shift operations in an automotive manufacturing environment, leading press and assembly teams to meet safety, quality, and production goals. This role manages approximately 30 employees, ensuring efficient workflow, adherence to standards, and continuous improvement in processes and performance.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise approximately 30 production employees on second shift within press or assembly teams.
  • Lead, coach, and train team members to perform their duties safely, efficiently, and in accordance with established procedures.
  • Plan, assign, and direct daily workflow to meet production schedules and customer requirements.
  • Monitor total output and product quality, ensuring compliance with 6S practices and established standards.
  • Analyze and interpret production and scrap records, and consistently work to improve these performance measures.
  • Follow defined processes and maintain compliance with ISO/TS standards, including accurate recordkeeping and documentation.
  • Recommend and implement measures to motivate employees and improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality, and overall efficiency.
  • Assist in employee selection and team development, contributing to hiring decisions and onboarding activities.
  • Track and enter employee hours, attendance, and vacation time using company systems.
  • Identify training needs and help train employees on the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform their work.
  • Support ongoing training and development initiatives that align with organizational goals.
  • Collaborate with HR and other members of the management team to resolve employee problems, complaints, and grievances in a fair and consistent manner.
  • Enforce company safety regulations, lead weekly safety talks, and conduct other employee meetings as needed.
  • Apply disciplinary and other company policies consistently to maintain a safe and productive work environment.
  • Drive continuous improvement and process improvement efforts using lean manufacturing and related methodologies.
Essential Skills
  • At least 3 years of manufacturing supervision experience.
  • Strong supervision and leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop a team of approximately 30 employees.
  • Proficiency with computer systems and software, including Word, Excel, ERP systems, and related production tools.
  • Effective organizational skills with the ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks and workflows.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to analyze production issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Solid time management skills to meet production schedules and deadlines.
  • Knowledge of safety practices and regulations in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with continuous improvement and process improvement initiatives.
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing principles and methodologies.
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma concepts or similar quality improvement frameworks.
  • Ability to interpret production and scrap data and use it to drive performance improvements.
  • High school diploma.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of robotic assembly or hydraulic presses.
  • Previous experience in automotive manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of automotive stamping processes.
  • Experience working in an industrial environment with a focus on safety and quality.
  • Comfort working within ISO/TS-compliant systems and documentation requirements.

Work Environment

This role is based in an automotive manufacturing environment that is well lit and designed to support safe and efficient production activities. The facility is not temperature controlled, so conditions may vary with the seasons. Work is performed on second shift, Monday through Thursday, with additional Friday hours from 3:30 to 2:15 as part of the regular schedule. The environment involves working around industrial equipment such as presses and potentially robotic assembly systems, with a strong focus on safety practices, 6S, and adherence to ISO/TS standards.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $58240.00 - $66560.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
