We are currently seeking an experienced Purchasing, Inventory & Manufacturing Systems Manager to take ownership of our procurement activities, tooling and supply inventories, manufacturing data systems, and continuous process improvement initiatives. This is a unique opportunity for a hands-on manufacturing professional who understands both the shop floor and the business systems that support it.

The ideal candidate will be equally comfortable negotiating with suppliers, walking the production floor, analyzing inventory usage, optimizing eci JobBoss2 ERP workflows, and identifying practical ERP system improvements that will increase efficiency and profitability.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Purchasing, Inventory & Manufacturing Systems Manager will serve as the critical link between production, inventory control, purchasing, scheduling, accounting, and management functions.

This role is responsible for procuring raw materials, tooling, consumables, and subcontracted services while maintaining accurate inventory levels and ensuring uninterrupted production operations.

In addition, this individual will act as the company's primary subject matter expert for eci JobBoss2 ERP software, helping management leverage its full capabilities to improve workflow efficiency, job costing accuracy, inventory control, profitability analysis, and automation of administrative processes that are currently performed manually.

Success in this role requires strong manufacturing knowledge, exceptional organizational capabilities, analytical thinking, and a hands-on approach to problem solving.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Purchasing / Procurement

  • Source and purchase raw materials, tooling, consumables, maintenance supplies, subcontract services, and production-related materials.
  • Develop and maintain strategic supplier relationships.
  • Solicit competitive quotations and negotiate pricing, deliveries, and service agreements.
  • Monitor market conditions and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Manage vendor performance and supplier scorecards, where applicable.
  • Ensure material availability supports production schedules while minimizing excess inventory.
  • Coordinate expedited purchases when necessary to support customer commitments.

Inventory Management

  • Maintain accurate inventory records within JobBoss.
  • Establish and improve inventory control procedures.
  • Monitor and adjust stock levels, usage trends, and reorder points.
  • Reduce stockouts and excess inventory through effective planning.
  • Manage physical inventory counts and cycle counting programs.
  • Improve inventory visibility and traceability throughout the organization.
  • Track and control tooling, cutting tools, abrasives, welding supplies, fasteners, maintenance items, and other consumables.

JobBoss ERP Administration & Optimization

ABSOLUTE REQUIREMENT:

The successful candidate MUST possess advanced working knowledge of eci JobBoss2 ERP software.

Responsibilities include:

  • Evaluate current utilization of JobBoss and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Recommend and implement best practices for:
    • Routing structures
    • Workflow management
    • Labor tracking
    • Inventory control
    • Purchasing processes
    • Material management
    • Job costing
    • Accounting integration with Quickbooks
    • Profitability analysis
  • Develop reports, dashboards, and analytical tools that improve management visibility.
  • Reduce manual paperwork through electronic workflows and automation.
  • Assist with procedural standardization and ERP training for users throughout the company.
  • Collaborate with accounting and management to improve operational and financial reporting.

Manufacturing Process Improvement

  • Analyze current operational processes and identify opportunities for efficiency gains.
  • Improve workflow between purchasing, inventory, scheduling, production, and accounting.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in capacity planning and production support activities.
  • Assist with tooling standardization and process documentation.
  • Work directly with production personnel to identify practical manufacturing improvements.

Shop Floor Collaboration

  • Maintain a regular presence within manufacturing operations.
  • Support production teams with tooling, material, and process-related needs.
  • Communicate effectively with machinists, fabricators, welders, supervisors, and management personnel.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing support issues as they arise.
  • Ensure purchasing and inventory decisions align with operational priorities.
  • Ability to work with AutoCAD and AutoDesk Inventor to assist with light CAD and 3D modeling work is a plus


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience required.
  • 10 years of relevant manufacturing, purchasing, inventory management, or operations experience is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in an industrial manufacturing environment is required.
  • Experience within a job-shop or contract manufacturing environment is highly preferred.

ERP Software

  • Advanced proficiency with eci JobBoss2 ERP software is required.
  • Candidates without significant JobBoss experience will not be considered.
  • Demonstrated ability to optimize ERP systems and improve operational performance through software utilization is strongly preferred.

  • Blueprint reading and firm understanding of GD&T and gauging methods.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent purchasing and negotiation skills.
  • Keen attention to detail and organization.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to balance multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (especially Excel)
  • Ability to work with AutoCAD (2D) and Autodesk Inventor (3D) is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaborating effectively with others.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position combines office responsibilities with direct engagement in manufacturing operations.

The successful candidate must be able to:

  • Lift up to 70 pounds occasionally.
  • Walk and stand on a manufacturing floor for 2 to 3 hours per day.
  • Navigate industrial environments safely and comfortably.
  • Perform periodic inventory audits and warehouse inspections.

EDUCATION

A relevant college / university degree may be beneficial but is not required. We place greater value on:
