Make a difference in young learners’ lives as an elementary special education teacher supporting students for the 2026-2027 school year. This rewarding contract opportunity offers the chance to help elementary students thrive in either a Resource/Inclusion or Self-Contained role, tailored to the district’s needs. You’ll use your expertise and compassion to promote academic, social, and emotional growth in a collaborative educational environment.

Key Qualifications:

  • Active Special Education teaching license from the Rhode Island Department of Education for Early Childhood, Elementary, or Secondary levels.
  • Ability to demonstrate compliance with the Right to Read Act by either holding Structured Literacy proficiency or completing certification within one year of hire.
  • Previous experience working with children who have mild-to-moderate or more intensive disabilities in a classroom setting.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a commitment to inclusive practices and differentiated instruction.
  • Adaptability to work within either a Resource/Inclusion setting or a Self-Contained classroom, as district placements require.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver individualized instruction and interventions based on student IEPs.
  • Monitor student progress toward goals and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to ensure student success and inclusion.
  • Foster a safe, positive, and supportive classroom environment that encourages engagement and growth.
  • Complete ongoing documentation, attend meetings, and participate in professional development as needed.
