Business Development Specialist / Clinical Liaison

We are seeking a Business Development Specialist / Clinical Liaison to grow relationships and referrals for a Long-Term Acute Care Hospital (LTACH). You’ll work directly with physicians, case managers, discharge planners, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to identify patients who may benefit from LTACH services and help guide those referrals through the admission process.

What You'll Be Doing

This is a relationship-building role. You’ll spend much of your time out in the healthcare community, developing referral relationships and becoming a trusted resource for your referral partners.

• Build and maintain relationships with physicians, hospitals, clinics, case managers, social workers, and other referral sources.
• Identify appropriate patients and generate referrals that align with the hospital's clinical capabilities.
• Manage referrals from initial identification through assessment, insurance review, approval, and admission.
• Complete clinical assessments when appropriately licensed.
• Educate referral sources about LTACH services and appropriate patient populations.
• Work closely with internal clinical, case management, social work, and business office teams.
• Understand insurance requirements, admission criteria, and regulations affecting LTACH patients.
• Develop a strong pipeline of potential referrals and admissions.
• Monitor referral activity, admissions, presentations, and relationship-building efforts.
• Identify opportunities to expand awareness of LTACH services throughout your territory.
• Maintain accurate documentation and regular activity reports.

What We're Looking For

You don't have to come from a traditional sales background. We're interested in healthcare professionals who understand how hospitals work and can build genuine relationships with the people who influence patient care decisions.

• 1+ year of healthcare business development experience, or
• 1+ year of clinical healthcare experience
• RN, LPN, RT, or another active clinical license preferred
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred
• Strong understanding of acute-care hospital operations
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• Ability to communicate confidently with physicians and healthcare leaders
• Knowledge of Medicare and private insurance processes preferred
• Strong organizational and follow-through skills
• Ability to work independently and manage a regional territory
• Valid driver's license and automobile insurance

Candidates with 5+ years of related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree or clinical license.

This Is Not a Desk Job

Your territory will include hospitals, physician offices, clinics, and other healthcare organizations throughout the region.

You'll spend most of your time meeting with referral sources, educating healthcare professionals, developing relationships, and identifying opportunities for appropriate patient referrals.

Some remote work may be available on an ad hoc basis with supervisor approval.

• Frequent walking, sitting, and standing
• Light work: ability to lift up to 20 lbs. occasionally and/or 10 lbs. frequently
• Position involves potential occupational exposure to blood or body fluids and follows applicable OSHA and HIPAA requirements
