Summary/Objective

The RCx Technician performing Retro-commissioning services for building automation, building envelope, and mechanical systems.

Essential Functions

Retro-commissioning:

  • Provide Software project upload and data update
  • Complete onsite testing (functional and pre functional testing of mechanical and automation systems)
  • Collect field readings
  • Perform automation system verification and validation, providing documentation of devices tested.
  • Assist in report compilation and generation
  • Complete daily reports

Commissioning:

  • Review of design documents comparing submittals to design
  • Complete pre-functional testing, Functional performance testing, Functional integration testing and point to point checkouts
  • Verify mechanical and electrical components ensuring they meet design criteria
  • Document issues found using web-based platform
  • Assist with site manual and project reporting
  • Complete daily reports

BAS/Construction Installation:

  • Retrofit/new construction commercial and light industrial applications
  • Programming of unitary controllers, area controllers, and web-based applications
  • Interact with customer IT professionals regarding web deployment.
  • Termination of wiring and validation of installed components.
  • Point to point testing and wire labeling.

General Responsibilities:

  • Punctual on all assigned jobsites and meetings each day
  • Professional and positive attitude to ensure customer satisfaction and team satisfaction
  • Flexible with schedule as overtime and after-hours is sometimes needed by customers
  • Timely submission of all daily paperwork and reports

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This position operates in a field environment that may contain dust, noise, oils, greases, grinding debris, compressed air, metal shavings, propane and solvents.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to read, count and write to accurately complete all documentation. This job also requires the use of machines and hand tools necessary for HVAC and building automation. This position requires occasional heavy lifting up to 40lbs. Ladder climbing and working within confined spaces is required

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Standard days and hours of work are

Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Travel

Travel to customer/prospect sites on a regular basis as needed.

Required Education and Experience

  • Minimum 1 to 3 years of HVAC and BAS systems
  • Advanced HVAC system design courses
  • Vocational or associate’s degree in electronics, mechanical systems, computer technology or related field.
  • Knowledge of low voltage power, communication and network wiring practices
  • BAS platform Experience (Schneider Electric, ECOSTRUXURE, Niagara Framework Certifications, preferred)
  • An understanding of other skilled trades such as welding, plumbing and electrical.
  • Computer skills including Microsoft products and industry specific/company specific programs
  • A good understanding of contract plans and specifications

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Strong verbal and writing communication skills
  • Punctuality
  • Flexible working hours and schedule.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance (if applicable)

Criminal Background Check, PA Child Welfare clearance and FBI fingerprinting clearance required

DMV check.
