GPS/Survey Technician in MeridianIf you’re an experienced construction survey professional who enjoys working with cutting-edge technology, solving problems in the field, and seeing your work take shape in real time, we want to hear from you.
You won’t be sitting behind a desk all day. You’ll be in the field, working with technology, collaborating with experienced construction professionals, and directly influencing how projects are built.
As a GPS/Survey Technician, you’ll play a key role in some of our most important construction projects in the Meridian area. You’ll work directly with project managers, superintendents, and field crews to turn plans and digital models into precise, buildable results. From advanced Trimble systems and 3D modeling to UAV aerial surveying and machine control, you’ll have the opportunity to put your technical expertise to work every day.
What You’ll DoPerform construction layout and establish precise field control, including staking for construction crews
Set up, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot Trimble GPS, EDM, and conventional surveying equipment
Set up and support heavy equipment machine control systems
Build, modify, and manage 3D project models for construction and machine control applications
Prepare data for GPS machine control systems and ensure field data is accurate and ready for use
Work closely with project managers and superintendents to interpret construction plans, perform field calculations, and process survey data
Use your technical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve field conflicts, construction issues, and procedural challenges
Mentor and train construction interns, sharing your knowledge and helping develop future talent
Operate UAVs/drones for aerial surveying, mapping, and project documentation
Help maintain a safe, efficient, and productive jobsite by following all safety and environmental requirements
Maintain a safe and insurable driving record
4–5 years of construction layout experience
Hands-on experience with Trimble surveying equipment
Experience with Trimble Business Center (TBC) or equivalent software for machine-control model development
Experience preparing data for GPS machine control systems
Experience operating UAVs/drones for aerial surveying and mapping
Strong understanding of GPS, conventional surveying, and control setup
Experience with surveying and measurement equipment
Knowledge of CADD and design software such as Terramodel, AutoCAD, MicroStation, and InRoads
Exceptional technical, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Ability to anticipate potential conflicts and resolve issues proactively in the field
Knowledge or experience with transit lasers and pipe lasers is preferred
A professional surveying license is not required, but is a plus
