Salary:$70,000–$80,000 per year (FLSA Exempt Position) (Based on Experience)
Schedule: 8-hour rotating shifts (Southern Swing)

Job Title: Production Supervisor

Reports To: Mill Superintendent

Purpose of Position

The primary role of a Production Supervisor at the Carthage, NY Mill is to ensure the workplace is safe and to manage and coordinate the efforts of hourly mill employees; ensure that production specifications are met with a high standard of quality; ensure compliance with all standards, policies, regulations, for the safe, environmentally sound production of a quality product. The Production Supervisor plays a critical role in supporting Ox Industries culture and key behaviors. In addition, as a shift supervisor, you will be responsible for oversight of work for all hourly production employees, planning shift schedules, monitor output, and resolve issues.

How You Will Impact Ox Industries

  • Administers and models safety in his/her area of responsibility; participates in and enforces the safety program for the shift employees; reviews safety records to uphold standards of maximum safety for all shift employees. Ensures compliance with all applicable OSHA and plant safety standards.
  • Coordinates maintenance activities on shift.
  • Oversee and ensure the adherence of work in progress and finished good product to company, industry, and customer specifications at minimum cost and with optimum efficiency.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot production and quality related issues, determine root cause and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Direct, train and coach employees.
  • Direct and execute daily production requirements.
  • Meet or exceed productivity goals.
  • Maintain waste generation (trim, cull), at or below budgeted standard.
  • Inspect the finished product to ensure quality specifications are met.
  • Management of employees to include performance feedback, coaching for improvement and discipline, as appropriate.
  • Maintain housekeeping excellence.
  • Ensure all production and employee reporting is completed timely and accurately for each shift.
  • Participate and ensure department remains compliant with industry and company audit standards.
  • Create and implement standard operating procedures (SOP's)
  • Maintains compliance with all environmental policies and procedures; ensures that all city, county, state, and federal regulations

What You Need to Succeed

Must Haves:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3+ years in supervisory or management role
  • Experience in manufacturing environment, prior knowledge and work history in the paper industry is highly favored
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365
  • Strong commitment to working safe, good communication skills, a demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Impressive safety record
  • Organizational skills
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position will be evaluated

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Undergraduate degrees or professional certificates are highly favored
  • Experience with Southern Swing Shiftwork is a plus

The mill operates 24/7 on a 4 crew, Southern Swing Rotation so you will work 1st, 2nd and 3rd shift each month.

  • Week 1
  • 3rd shift (10pm - 6am) Off Sunday the work Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday
  • Week 2
  • Work Sunday then Off Monday and Tuesday. Work 2nd shift (2pm - 10pm) Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday
  • Week 3
  • Work Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday then Off Wednesday and Thursday. Work 1st shift (6am - 2pm) Friday and Saturday
  • Week 4
  • Work Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday then Off Friday and Saturday
Weeks swing 3rd to 2nd, 2nd to 1st, then 1st to 3rd
