Job Summary

The Production Supervisor plays a key leadership role at our McGregor, TX facility. This position oversees daily operations on the production floor, managing personnel and resources to ensure timely, safe, and high-quality manufacturing output. The Supervisor is responsible for scheduling, coordinating with internal teams, supporting continuous improvement efforts, and actively developing talent on the floor. This role requires close collaboration with engineering, safety, HR, and project management teams to support business goals and maintain compliance with safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Personnel Management & Team Leadership

  • Supervise a team of welders, fitters, fabricators, painters, and helpers across day and night shifts
  • Serve as the main point of contact for production personnel, addressing daily needs and resolving issues
  • Conduct mid-year and year-end performance evaluations
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and orientation of new hires in collaboration with HR
  • Assist with translation and training during safety orientation for new team members
  • Track and submit weekly timesheets for direct hires and contractors

Production Planning & Execution

  • Develop and communicate daily job priorities to ensure schedule adherence
  • Order and manage weekly materials and supplies to maintain production flow
  • Coordinate with night shift supervisor to ensure alignment of shift activities
  • Schedule key production processes such as PWHT (Post Weld Heat Treatment) and delivery dates

Collaboration & Project Support

  • Partner with Project Managers to provide accurate labor hour estimates for vessel builds
  • Work with engineers to troubleshoot production challenges and improve efficiency
  • Support ongoing facility and process improvement projects with the Industrial Engineer
  • Build and refine SAW (Submerged Arc Welding) setups to optimize welding time and productivity

Training & Development

  • Develop and implement training programs to certify new welders and cross-train employees
  • Construct and maintain training booths for welding skill development
  • Oversee specialized processes such as nozzle and manway resurfacing

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to company safety policies, procedures, and quality standards
  • Support safety department in promoting safe work practices and training initiatives
  • Monitor equipment, tools, and floor conditions to mitigate risk and ensure a safe environment

Competencies

Required

  • Hands-on knowledge of welding and fabrication processes (SAW, MIG, TIG, etc.)
  • Experience managing schedules, materials, and personnel in a production environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including cross-functional collaboration
  • Proficiency in using basic power tools and interpreting fabrication drawings
  • Able to work 12-hour shifts, lift 50 lbs, and climb ladders as needed
  • Comfortable with basic math and tape measure reading
  • Basic computer skills required (Microsoft Excel, timekeeping systems, etc.)

Preferred

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
  • Previous experience with ASME-certified fabrication or pressure vessel manufacturing
  • Experience in developing and delivering training programs
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement practices

Education and Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in a supervisory or lead role in a manufacturing or industrial setting
  • High School Diploma or GED required; technical training or certifications a plus
