The Assembly Technician is responsible for assembling, testing, and inspecting scoreboards and accessory products to ensure they meet established engineering specifications, quality standards, and customer requirements. This position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to interpret technical documentation, and a commitment to producing safe, high-quality products. The Assembly Technician works collaboratively with production team members, engineers, and other departments to support manufacturing goals while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions
The following responsibilities are representative of the primary duties of the position and are not intended to be all-inclusive. Additional duties may be assigned by management as business needs require.
Product Assembly
- Assemble scoreboards, accessories, and related components according to engineering drawings, blueprints, technical documents, and work instructions.
- Utilize hand tools and assembly equipment including drills, clamps, pop rivet guns, and other production tools to complete assemblies accurately and efficiently.
- Verify that components and materials are assembled in accordance with established specifications and quality requirements.
Quality Inspection and Testing
- Inspect paint finishes, components, and completed assemblies to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
- Perform functional testing of assembled products to verify proper operation and identify defects or issues.
- Make adjustments, repairs, or modifications as required to achieve product quality standards.
- Report quality concerns and assist in implementing corrective actions when necessary.
Equipment Operation and Maintenance
- Safely operate assembly tools and equipment in accordance with established procedures.
- Conduct routine equipment checks and notify appropriate personnel of maintenance or repair needs.
- Maintain tools and work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
Documentation and Process Support
- Maintain accurate production records, inspection results, testing documentation, and modification records.
- Follow written work instructions, engineering documents, and production schedules.
- Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to enhance product quality, safety, and efficiency.
Teamwork and Cross-Training
- Collaborate effectively with engineers, designers, supervisors, and fellow production employees to achieve production objectives.
- Participate in cross-training activities and provide support in other manufacturing areas as needed.
- Demonstrate flexibility in job assignments to meet changing production demands.
Safety and Compliance
- Adhere to all company safety policies, procedures, and Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) requirements.
- Maintain awareness of workplace safety hazards and immediately report unsafe conditions, incidents, or behaviors.
- Use tools, equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE) properly and consistently.
- Complete and maintain all required training, qualifications, and certifications.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and remain on your feet for up to 8 hours per shift.
- Ability to frequently bend, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive motions.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds without assistance.
- Ability to use hand tools and assembly equipment safely and effectively.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, moving equipment, and varying temperatures.
Required Qualifications/Skills:
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply information from blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical documents.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow written work instructions and production plans.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand tools and assembly equipment safely.
- Ability to operate Windows-based computers, mobile devices, and company software applications including PYRO, Outlook, Word, Excel, and other assigned business systems.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Strong sense of urgency and ability to meet production deadlines.
- Flexibility to adjust work assignments and schedules to support production requirements.
