Job Summary:

The Conformal Coating Operator position is responsible for performing detailed manual application and correction of conformal coating on printed circuit boards (PCBs) and electronic assemblies. This role ensures coating accuracy in areas requiring additional coverage or removal of excess material. The position supports quality standards by using precision tools to verify that coated assemblies meet visual and functional requirements, while following strict process and cleanliness guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

· Prepare circuit boards for coating by masking or taping connectors, test points, and other designated keep-out areas that must remain free of conformal coating or potting.

· Mix or prepare conformal coating materials according to approved procedures, mix ratios, and pot-life requirements.

· Follow engineering drawings, work instructions, and specified coating thickness requirements per IPC-A-610 acceptance criteria.

· Inspect PCBs under magnification and UV/black light to verify proper coating coverage and identify areas where coating is missing, thin, damaged, uneven, or in excess.

· Perform manual touch-up using a brush, syringe, or other approved method, including covering areas the coating machine missed, removing excess coating, and repairing coating damaged during assembly, testing, rework, or handling, while keeping keep-out areas uncoated.

· Perform self-inspection of completed work and withhold assemblies that do not meet standards.

· Perform routine machine maintenance, including changing fluids and cleaning equipment to ensure efficient operation.

· Complete accurate production, material, and machine maintenance records, including lot numbers and inspection results.

· Handle chemicals safely, including proper use of PPE, SDS review, and hazardous material handling and disposal procedures.

· Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with 5S, ESD, FOD, and safety procedures.

· Transport racks of circuit boards between work areas to continue the manufacturing process.

· Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor to accommodate fluctuating production requirements, and assist with companywide tasks.

Qualifications:

· High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)

Physical Requirements:

· Ability to stand for long periods and occasionally lift to 50 lbs.

· Manual dexterity to handle small components and operate equipment.
