Job Description

What’sCyber Security in our Technology Division?At Wellmark we takea holistic approachto Cybersecurity.Identifyand create risk managementstrategyand governance tools,structureand process.Protectthrough Identify and Access Management, training & awareness, data security, information protection processes & procedures.Detectanomalies and events through continuous monitoring and detection processes.Respondwithcommunications, analysis,mitigationand continuous improvement.Recoverwith planning,communicationand improvement.

What projects might I support?Although subject to change, examples of projects you will be contributing to include:

  • Work in the Security Operations Center
  • Test, scan, monitor, andrun different tools against current infrastructure
  • Configure tools (data loss protection, email security, malware related,etc)
  • Develop code – refine or augment existing tools, load results to a database or engine
  • Process optimization
  • Aid our Cyberthreat Intelligence group in analysis ofDarkWebactivities
  • Support Cyber Kill Chain and Threat Response enhancements

This internship will start in May of 2027, working a hybrid schedule from our headquarters inDes Moines.

Qualifications

  • Current student pursuing an Associate’sorBachelor'sdegree inComputer Engineering, Computer Science,Cybersecurityor relatedprogram
  • Knowledge of scripting languages
    • Python
    • PowerShell
    • Bash
  • Strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to adapt to changing environments and analyze risks
  • Effective troubleshooting/problem solving skills; breaking down problems to find theroot-causewith the ability to generate solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively work with the business areas
