Responsibilities
- Design, maintain, and troubleshoot instrumentation, control systems, and safety instrumented systems (SIS) within a chemical manufacturing environment.
- Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Process Safety, and Capital Projects teams to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant performance while maintaining compliance with regulations and industry standards.
- Develop and update instrument specifications, datasheets, engineering standards, P&IDs, loop diagrams, interlock diagrams, and control narratives.
- Support installation, commissioning, calibration, and troubleshooting of instrumentation equipment and systems.
- Lead efforts related to Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), Safety Integrity Levels (SIL), and Safety Instrumented Functions (SIF), supporting PHA, LOPA, MOC, incident investigations, and ensuring OSHA PSM, IEC 61511 compliance.
- Investigate instrumentation failures and implement corrective actions to improve alarm management, interlocks, and control system performance.
- Support plant reliability initiatives, develop preventive and predictive maintenance strategies for instrumentation assets.
- Participate in capital and expense projects by providing design, equipment selection, vendor coordination, and technical reviews.
- Serve as a technical leader and mentor to I&E technicians, providing training and coordination during plant turnarounds, outages, and startups.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of instrumentation, controls, or automation engineering experience in chemical, petrochemical, refining, or process manufacturing industries.
- Knowledge of instrumentation design, SIS, SIL, SIF, alarm management, interlocks, and safety systems.
- Experience supporting plant operations and maintenance activities involving PLC and DCS systems.
