Job Title: Field Technician

Job Description

The Field Technician installs, tests, and supports electronic control systems on oil field service equipment such as frack pumps, cementers, coil tubing units, blenders, and data vans. This role focuses on mounting electrical boxes, running cabling, working with 24V systems, and training customers on the proper use and maintenance of the installed equipment. The position combines hands-on field work with technical troubleshooting and customer-facing support.

Responsibilities

  • Install electrical and electronic equipment on oil field service machinery, including frack pumps, cementers, coil tubing units, blenders, and data vans.
  • Mount electrical boxes securely on equipment and route, terminate, and organize cabling in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Work with 24V electrical systems, ensuring proper connections, configuration, and functionality.
  • Configure and test PLC, automation, and control systems to verify correct operation and integration with existing equipment.
  • Troubleshoot control systems, analog circuits, wiring issues, and related electrical problems using schematics and diagnostic tools.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams to guide installation, service, and repair activities.
  • Perform field service work, including on-site diagnostics, repairs, and system adjustments to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Train customers on the operation, safety, and basic troubleshooting of installed electrical and control systems.
  • Communicate clearly with clients to understand equipment issues and provide technical guidance and solutions.
  • Document work performed, test results, and any changes made to equipment or control systems.
  • Collaborate with office-based subject matter experts and other technicians to resolve complex technical issues.
  • For office-based roles, serve as a subject matter expert to support clients remotely with troubleshooting and technical advice.

Essential Skills

  • Hands-on experience installing, testing, and commissioning electrical equipment and control systems.
  • Proficiency in mounting electrical boxes and running, terminating, and organizing cabling.
  • Ability to work safely and effectively with 24V electrical systems.
  • Experience with PLC, automation, and control systems, including configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of analog circuits and their application within industrial control systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for electrical, controls, and wiring issues in field service environments.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Experience providing customer training on installed equipment and systems.
  • Field service experience performing on-site diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with clients and explain technical concepts clearly.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with Siemens hardware is highly valued.
  • Experience with IFM hardware is highly valued.
  • Experience in the oil and gas industry is a plus but not required.
  • Ownership of personal tools is a plus but not required.
  • Comfort with both travel-based field work and customer-facing responsibilities.
  • Ability to serve as a subject matter expert and support clients remotely from an office environment.

Work Environment

The work environment offers both field-based and office-based opportunities. Two technicians will travel approximately 50–75% within the USA, receive a daily per diem, and drive a company vehicle while performing on-site installations, testing, and service work. Two technicians will work primarily in an office setting as subject matter experts, communicating with clients to help troubleshoot equipment issues remotely. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, first shift, with 10-hour workdays. Work involves industrial oil field service equipment, electrical and control systems, and use of typical field service and diagnostic tools, with an expectation of professional attire appropriate for industrial and client-facing settings.

This is a Contract position based out of Spring, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
