Job Title: DCS Engineer Location: Houston, TX Type: Direct Hire Work Model: Onsite – onsite

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary focal point for process-control scope at multiple sites, owning control-system maintenance, lifecycle planning, infrastructure standards, and project support.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders, automation providers, and external resources to ensure site priorities are aligned.
  • Own maintenance and lifecycle planning for control systems, servers, workstations, controllers, I/O modules, PLCs, and HMIs.
  • Plan and execute upgrades, modifications, and shutdown work to maintain system integrity.
  • Manage relationships with Rockwell Automation, ABB, vendors, and contractors for external support.
  • Maintain the site's master I/O database and process control infrastructure specifications.
  • Coordinate testing of interlock and safeguarding systems with Mechanical Integrity and Process Safety teams.
  • Develop process-control strategies and narratives for projects, modifications, and vendor controls.
  • Define hardware scope, review, and approve process-control deliverables for large projects.
  • Modify alarm system setpoints and priorities to optimize operations.
  • Support loop sheets, junction-box capacity and troubleshooting, instrument configuration, and wiring specifications.
  • Assist with electrical equipment interfacing, motor control centers, and instrumentation scoping and selection as needed.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, with coursework or emphasis in Process Control or Systems Engineering preferred.
  • 5–7 years of industrial automation experience, including on-site work experience.
  • Experience programming HMI, PLC, or process controllers. Hands-on experience with Allen-Bradley ControlLogix, Studio 5000, Rockwell PlantPAx with FactoryTalk, or ABB Infi 90 preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Chemical or petrochemical manufacturing experience is highly desirable.
