Welder

This role focuses on welding and assembly work on refurbished refuse trucks and cement mixers. You set up and adjust welding equipment, perform spot, tack, and MIG welding, and help restore used trucks to a high-quality, functional condition within a manufacturing environment.

• Perform welding and assembly of components on refurbished refuse (garbage) trucks and cement mixers.
• Set up welding equipment and ensure proper settings for MIG, spot, and tack welding operations.
• Carry out MIG welding to repair, restore, and reinforce structures on used and older trucks.
• Complete spot and tack welds to secure parts prior to final welding and assembly.
• Use basic hand tools and power tools to support fabrication, body work, and general assembly tasks.
• Wash, clean, and wipe down parts and surfaces as needed to prepare for welding and finishing work.
• Perform general labor tasks related to production and manufacturing processes.
• Assist with grinding and finishing welds to meet quality and safety standards.
• Work collaboratively within small project teams to complete assigned builds and refurbishments.
• Follow safety procedures, including proper use of eye and ear protection and adherence to shop guidelines.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area to support efficient production.

• At least 6 months of welding experience or completion of a post-secondary welding certificate or at least one month in a specific welding program.
• Ability to perform MIG welding, including spot and tack welds, on steel components.
• Minimum 6 months of experience using basic hand tools and power tools in a production or manufacturing setting.
• Ability to perform fabrication, grinding, and assembly work related to auto body and body work.
• Capability to stand and work on your feet for up to 10-hour days.
• Basic understanding of manufacturing and production processes.
• Ability to work safely with welding equipment, hand tools, and power tools.

• Experience in auto body or body work is an asset.
• Background in manufacturing or production environments is preferred.
• Comfort working in small project teams and collaborating with others.
• Attention to detail when setting up welding equipment and checking weld quality.
• Strong work ethic and willingness to perform general labor tasks as needed.

This is a manufacturing environment with small project teams working closely together on refurbished trucks and cement mixers. The setting is hands-on and production-focused, with regular use of welding equipment, hand tools, and power tools. You work on your feet for extended periods, including 10-hour days. Jeans and steel-toed boots are required, and eye and ear protection are provided and must be worn in designated areas to maintain a safe and compliant workplace.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Dodge Center, MN.

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
