Harris Electrical Contractors is looking for an experienced Lead Commercial Electrician to join our growing commercial electrical division.
We are looking for more than someone who can simply perform assigned electrical work. The right person should be capable of taking a commercial project or service job, reviewing the drawings and scope, laying out the work, determining material needs, working independently or leading a helper, and completing the project correctly and efficiently.
This position is ideal for an experienced commercial electrician who is comfortable working independently and wants the opportunity to grow into a Commercial Foreman position as our commercial division expands.
ResponsibilitiesPerform and lead commercial electrical installations
Work independently or with an apprentice/helper
Read and interpret electrical plans, specifications, one-lines and project documents
Lay out electrical work from drawings
Install and bend EMT and other raceway systems
Install panels, transformers, disconnects and electrical distribution equipment
Install feeders and branch circuits
Install commercial lighting and lighting controls
Install receptacles, equipment connections and dedicated circuits
Perform commercial electrical service and troubleshooting
Work with 120/208V and 277/480V electrical systems
Determine material and equipment needed to complete assigned work
Plan daily work and coordinate work with assigned helpers
Communicate with project managers, customers, general contractors and other trades
Identify potential problems and communicate them before they create delays
Maintain NEC-compliant, professional-quality installations
Assist with inspections, testing and punch-list completion
Maintain an organized and safe jobsite
Train and develop apprentices and helpers
We are looking for someone who can be trusted to take ownership of smaller commercial projects without requiring constant supervision.
Preferred qualifications:
5+ years of commercial electrical experience
Strong EMT bending and installation skills
Ability to read and work from commercial electrical drawings
Experience with commercial panels and electrical distribution
Experience with 120/208V and 277/480V systems
Experience installing feeders and branch circuits
Experience with transformers and disconnects
Strong electrical troubleshooting ability
Ability to determine material needs from drawings and field conditions
Ability to independently lay out and complete electrical work
Experience directing an apprentice or helper
Good understanding of the National Electrical Code
Professional communication skills
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
An electrical license, OSHA training, and experience with government, industrial, generator, controls, data or testing work are a plus but are not required for the right candidate.
Compensation & Growth$30–$40 per hour, depending on commercial electrical experience, capabilities and ability to independently lead work.
Overtime and additional earning opportunities may be available depending on workload and project requirements.
