Job Description
About Us

Be part of a team of engineers helping organizations fight fraud and abuse. We help organizations move beyond alerts, dashboards, and static reports by turning threat intelligence into automated monitoring, investigations, due diligence, and decision-ready risk workflows. Our platform continuously monitors global signals, from news, social media, domains, and open web sources to alternative forums, criminal marketplaces, and the dark web, using AI agents, machine learning, and human analyst expertise to filter noise, connect context, and surface what matters.

As a LeadSoftware Engineer you are more than just a contributor; you are a force multiplier. You don't just write code; you design and build complete projects, reduce architectural complexity, and act as a domain expert. You know best practices and how to incorporate them in your daily work. You've taken in-use systems and rebuilt them while they are serving customers. You will be laying the groundwork for the future of threat intelligence while shipping high-impact work today.

What You'll Do
  • Architect & Simplify: Independently gather stakeholder requirements, design and implement high-impact, complex systems. You will be expected to write excellent technical design docs that consider cost, scalability, and long-term maintainability. Building systems that allow others to extend and contribute to your codebases.
  • Lead & Mentor: Act as a technical lead for others. You'll mentor junior engineers, provide constructive feedback to peers and management, and resolve conflicts with a respectful, constructive approach.
  • Drive Excellence: Set the standard for velocity, volume, and quality. You'll identify team-level problems, get buy-in for solutions, and contribute to codebase improvements (test coverage, simplicity) far beyond your immediate tasks.
  • Cross-Pollinate: Engage and influence across the teams to align goals and strategies. You'll coordinate test strategies across multiple clusters and share best practices to make software development at OverwatchData more productive.
Competencies
  • Core Engineering: Expert-level proficiency in modern backend cloud software engineering practices.
    • While not strictly required, fluency in Python and experience building LLM agents and tooling will give you a significant head start in our data driven environment.
  • Scale: A background in data processing at scale is a major bonus, as we ingest and filter large volumes of global threat data.
  • The 'ilities': Know the value, methods and implementation for testability, scalability, reliability, maintainability, securability, observability
  • Generalist: You can research and solve problems across a large number of software engineering disciplines ensuring your work helps other teams and builds a foundation for future features. You bring principled engineering to everything from LLM agents to data pipelines to build systems.
  • Good Teammate: You take criticism well, resolve friction within the team, and introspect to improve yourself.
