Wegner CPAs is proud to partner with our client in the greater Madison area on their search for a Controls Engineer.WHAT THE JOB ISYou will help create, review, and test machine code that will make automated systems function for manufacturing cells. You will need to work side by side with mechanical, manufacturing, electrical and assembly to make sure your code functions with the rest of the system. You will need to understand how to make systems work in the real world and be an active test engineer as well. When questions come up you help solve them. When things get confusing you help clear the path. When something works you learn why. When something does not you help fix it and move forward.DAY TO DAYA typical week looks like this:Design flow charts covering normal operation and error handling.Review and write code to make sure it both functions before being run on the machineCoordinate with mechanical and electrical to make sure hardware and software synchronize wellTest the machines to make sure the machine meets requirementsIf you like seeing what you design get built and shipped, this role fits.If you prefer handing things off with no follow up, this is not the place.WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR1-2 years' experience programming using ladder logic or structured textExperience using Git version controlDegree in computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, robotics, or a related fieldAn understanding of how to define and test technical requirementsComfortable working around machines, tools, and shop environmentsCuriosity, ownership, and pride in work that runs in productionWHAT HELPS YOU STAND OUTExperience with QML or AzureFamiliarity with common electromechanical systemsTIA Portal or RSlogix experienceHands-on testing experienceTime spent around automation, robotics or industrial equipmentWHAT FITS OUR CULTUREYou bring energy and follow throughYou want to learn and take on more responsibilityYou enjoy being part of a small team that works closely togetherYou care about the quality of your work and how it performs in the fieldYou want your career to move forward
