Laundry Aide

A Laundry Attendant in a nursing home is responsible for maintaining clean, sanitized linens and residents’ personal clothing to support a safe, comfortable, and hygienic environment. This role plays a key part in infection control and resident care.

• Sort, wash, dry, and fold residents’ clothing, bedding, towels, and facility linens

• Follow strict infection control and sanitation guidelines to prevent the spread of illness

• Handle soiled laundry safely, including items contaminated with bodily fluids

• Operate and maintain commercial washers, dryers, and laundry equipment

• Label and organize residents’ personal clothing to ensure proper return

• Deliver clean laundry to resident rooms and nursing units in a timely manner

• Inspect linens and clothing for stains, damage, or wear and rewash or report as needed

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laundry room

• Monitor inventory of linens and report shortages or supply needs

• Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of chemicals and personal protective equipment (PPE)

• Knowledge of infection control practices and safety standards

• Attention to detail, especially when handling residents’ personal items

• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment

• Strong organizational and time management skills

• Physical ability to lift, carry, bend, and stand for long periods

• Compassion and respect when working in a resident-centered environment

• Ability to follow directions and work as part of a healthcare team

• Nursing home or long-term care facility

• Exposure to heat, humidity, and biohazard materials

• Requires use of PPE (gloves, gowns, etc.)
