Position Overview
We are seeking a Civil Design Engineer (Land Development) to join our growing team. In this role, you will lead the design and analysis of diverse mixed residential and commercial land development projects. Reporting directly to a Senior Engineer, you will blend technical executionfocusing heavily on site layout, grading, drainage, and utilitieswith team leadership and frequent on-site client engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Site & System Design: Develop site layouts, grading, storm drainage systems, and utility infrastructure for residential and commercial developments using AutoCAD Civil 3D, ICPR, and WaterCAD.
- Permitting & Compliance: Prepare, review, and manage engineering plans, technical reports, and regulatory submission packages to ensure full compliance with local, state, and federal standards.
- Team Leadership: Provide technical guidance, code navigation, and daily mentorship to a small, agile team of junior engineers (1–5 members).
- Client & Site Engagement: Conduct frequent on-site visits to review project conditions, support construction execution, and maintain direct client communication.
Qualifications
- Required:
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) from an ABET-accredited institution
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Florida (or within 6 months of licensure)
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in civil land development design
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, ICPR, and WaterCAD
- Strong communication skills with a client-facing, collaborative mindset
- Preferred:
- Specialized expertise in site grading and complex stormwater/drainage design
- Proven track record in water, sewer, and dry utility design for Florida land development projects
