The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead complex steel fabrication projects from initial design coordination through final delivery. You will serve as the central point of contact for general contractors, detailers, engineers, shop teams, and subcontractors ensuring every project is completed on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

How You Will Make an Impact:
- Project Planning & Execution
- Manage end-to-end project lifecycle for structural and custom steel fabrication contracts ranging from $500K to $10M+.
- Develop detailed project schedules, resource plans, and milestone tracking on software such as Procore, Autodesk, Endeavor and EJE is a plus.
- Coordinate the project with the general contractor and trade partners, including the joist and deck supplier, miscellaneous metal fabricator, steel erector and detailer to ensure effective execution.
- Monitor shop drawings, submittals, and RFI logs to maintain project momentum and prevent costly rework.
- Oversee procurement timeliness to ensure materials are ordered and delivered according to project schedules.
- Client & Stakeholder Management
- Serve as the primary client liaison from contract award through project closeout, building trusted, long-term relationships.
- Lead project kickoff meetings, progress updates, and post-project reviews with owners,
- general contractors, and inspectors.
- Proactively communicate schedule changes, budget variances, or scope adjustments with clear, solutions-focused messaging.
- Ensure alignment between internal and external stakeholders throughout all project phases.
- Budget & Cost Control
- Participate in schedule of values meetings and identify overruns early by analyzing variance reports and adjusting production strategies as needed.
- Collaborate with estimating to ensure accurate project handoffs and support bid reviews when required.
- Safety & Quality Assurance
- Ensure detailed drawings represent AWS and AISC standards via review and monitor field issues as needed.
- Conduct regular site visits as needed to verify quality, progress, and safety compliance.
- Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement across all teams.
Qualifications
- Required
- 5+ years of project management experience in steel fabrication, structural steel, or heavy industrial construction.
- Demonstrated track record managing multiple concurrent projects valued at $1M or more.
- Strong working knowledge of steel fabrication processes, connection design, and erection sequences.
- Proficiency with project management and ERP software; experience with Tekla, SDS/2, or similar detailing platforms is a plus.
- Solid understanding of contract documents, specifications, and construction law fundamentals.
- Exceptional communication and negotiation skills equally effective in the boardroom and on the shop floor.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites as needed
- Preferred
- PMP certification or AISC-recognized credentials.
- Experience with AWS D1.1 structural welding standards and AISC Code of Standard Practice.
- Familiarity with BIM coordination and clash detection workflows.
- Experience working in a fabrication shop environment.
