Job Description

Design Engineer

Location: Pleasanton, CA

Compensation: $110,000 - $130,000

Do you love the craft of controls design and want to see your work running inside some of the most sophisticated facilities in the country? Are you ready to take ownership and be rewarded for it, without fighting through layers of corporate red tape?

One of our clients sits in a sweet spot in the market - bigger than a mom-and-pop shop, more nimble than the giant nationals like Siemens or Johnson Controls. Because branches operate with strong independence, your day-to-day experience is shaped by people who actually know the work. They work with high-profile, enterprise-level clients including major tech campuses and data centers, and the engineers here who break the mold and bring strong ideas get noticed. This is an organization that invests in their people and where you can grow a long-term career.

What You Will Do:

Own the controls design by taking BAS projects from initial drawings and sequences through submittals and closeout.

Put the system together on paperby selecting the right controls and peripherals and make sure everything aligns with the project specs.

Turn field changes into a finished design;capture what actually happened in the field and produce accurate As-Builts.

Wrap up the detailsby pulling together O&M documentation so projects close out cleanly.

Look for smarter ways to do things!Partner with PMs and Engineers to identify value-engineering and energy-efficiency opportunities.

Stay connected to the project teamby keeping everyone in the loop on progress, changes, and anything that needs attention.

What We're Looking For:

2-5 years of hands-on BAS experience, with a Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree a strong plus.

A strong mechanical aptitude and thorough understanding of controls systems, sequence of operations, RFI's. BOM, submittals, etc.

Complex facility design experience (i.e. hi-rise, data center, hospitals, etc.)

Ability to read construction blueprints and electrical schematics with confidence.

Proficiency in AutoCAD, Visio, and MS Office, with basic TCP/IP and networking knowledge desired.

Highly organized, able to prioritize across multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, and willing to take full ownership of assigned work.

Valid California driver's license and willingness to make occasional job site visits.

Opportunity begins with dialogue. If this sounds like a role you would like to discuss, please send me your qualifications or contact me, Jenne Hays, at . All inquiries will be treated confidentially.

Not quite the position you're looking for? I specialize in recruiting for building automation, HVAC controls, smart buildings, and connected technologies nationwide. Many of the opportunities I work on are never publicly advertised. If you're a controls professional, I'd welcome the opportunity to connect and discuss your career goals.
