Role Description

Drive Construction, Inc. is seeking a full-time Construction Superintendent to oversee daily operations on active construction sites throughout the Greater Chicago Area and surrounding suburbs.

The Construction Superintendent is responsible for coordinating and supervising subcontractors and field personnel, monitoring project progress, and ensuring all work is completed in accordance with project plans, specifications, schedules, and quality standards. This role plays a key part in maintaining site safety, documenting field activities, resolving on-site issues, and facilitating communication among project stakeholders.

Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Managing daily construction operations and site activities.
  • Coordinating subcontractors, suppliers, and field personnel.
  • Enforcing company safety policies and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Conducting site inspections and quality control reviews.
  • Maintaining daily reports, project documentation, and progress records.
  • Monitoring project schedules and assisting with project planning and sequencing.
  • Supporting budgeting efforts, cost control, and resource allocation.
  • Identifying and resolving field issues in a timely manner.
  • Communicating regularly with project managers, clients, inspectors, and subcontractors to keep projects on schedule and within scope.

Qualifications

  • Strong construction site management skills, including supervision of field crews and coordination of subcontractors.
  • Knowledge of construction safety practices and experience enforcing OSHA and company safety requirements.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage schedules, documentation, daily reports, and multiple priorities.
  • Understanding of budgeting, cost control, and resource allocation.
  • Ability to assist with project planning, work sequencing, and schedule management.
  • Experience reading and interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working effectively with clients, inspectors, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams.
  • Proficiency with construction technology tools, including project management software, digital reporting platforms, email, and spreadsheets.
  • Prior experience as a superintendent or similar field leadership role in commercial or residential construction.
  • OSHA 30-Hour Certification preferred.
  • Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, or similar construction management software is a plus.
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to travel to project sites throughout the Greater Chicago Area and surrounding suburbs.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and navigate active construction sites.

Compensation is based on experience and qualifications.
