Job Summary:

Responsible for designing, developing, testing, supporting, and continuously improving business applications on the IBM i platform. This position requires hands-on RPG programming and supports core business logic, reports, interfaces, and application modernization.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • No direct reports

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain applications using RPG, RPGLE/ILE RPG, free-format RPG, CL/CLLE, SQL, and DB2 for i.

  • Analyze business requirements and existing program logic and translate needs into maintainable technical solutions.

  • Troubleshoot production issues, perform root-cause analysis, correct defects, and support business-critical IBM i applications.

  • Maintain and modernize legacy programs, batch processes, reports, files, interfaces, and job streams.

  • Create and maintain program specifications, technical documentation, data flows, deployment steps, and support procedures.

  • Follow coding, testing, source-control, change-management, security, and deployment standards.

  • Collaborate with users on testing and validation and communicate status, risks, and implementation impacts.

  • Support interfaces between IBM i applications and other systems, including APIs, file exchanges, EDI, and scheduled integrations.

  • Participate in code review, knowledge transfer, application support, and continuous improvement.

  • Follow all company safety and environmental policies and federal regulations.

  • Other duties assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to program in RPG on IBM i.

  • Working knowledge of RPGLE/ILE concepts, CL, SQL, DB2 for i, job processing, debugging, IBM i development tools, HTML, and Javascript.

  • Ability to read and safely modify legacy code while using modern, modular, and documented practices for new development.

  • Strong analytical, communication, testing, documentation, and business-process skills.

Education and Experience:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, software development, or related field; or equivalent experience.

  • IBM i and RPG development experience required.

  • Free-format RPG, embedded SQL, APIs, EDI, integrations, or modern IBM i tooling experience preferred.

  • JD Edwards experience helpful but not required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Primarily office-based work environment.

  • Occasional travel and after-hours support may be required.

  • Ability to sit, stand, and use standard computer equipment for extended periods.
