JOB TITLE: Purchasing & Production Planning Manager

DEPARTMENT: Operations / Supply Chain REPORTS TO: VP of Operations

SUMMARY

The Purchasing & Production Planning Manager is responsible for managing all purchasing, production and material planning, MRP execution, inventory control, supplier management, and expediting activities. This position ensures materials, inventory, supplier commitments, and production capacity are aligned to support customer demand and on-time delivery objectives.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Production and Material Planning

· Plan production workload based on customer demand, material availability, lead times, and manufacturing capacity.

· Establish and maintain Estimated Ship Dates (ESDs) for customer orders.

· Execute and maintain MRP processes and identify material shortages or capacity constraints.

· Develop recovery plans for at-risk orders and customer commitments.

· Monitor inventory levels, inventory accuracy, and planning parameters.

· Manage excess, obsolete, and slow-moving inventory.

Purchasing

· Create, issue, revise, and maintain purchase orders.

· Convert MRP recommendations into purchasing actions.

· Maintain supplier records, pricing, and lead times within the ERP system.

· Develop supplier relationships and monitor supplier performance.

· Proactively expedite critical and past-due purchase orders.

· Resolve supplier delivery, quality, and material availability issues.

Continuous Improvement & Cross-Functional Support

· Work closely with Sales and the quoting team to provide estimated current lead times and answer questions regarding quick-ship availability.

· Collaborate with Production, Customer Service, Engineering, Shipping, and Receiving to support operational objectives.

· Provide planning, order status, and material availability information to stakeholders.

· Identify opportunities to improve purchasing, planning, inventory control, and supplier performance.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

· Associate or Bachelor degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, Manufacturing, or related field preferred.

· Five to seven years of purchasing, production planning, inventory control, supply chain, or manufacturing experience.

· Experience utilizing ERP/MRP systems in a manufacturing environment.

· Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

· Primarily office-based with regular interaction throughout manufacturing operations.
