Imagine this scenario
You roll out a machine-vision inspection that flags defects in real time, integrate serialization verification at line speed, and tie it into a newly refined HMI. Moments later, you adjust an Allen-Bradley PLC routine to remove a bottleneck, then document the panel and wiring changes so the solution can be replicated across other lines. Before the shift ends, you assist Maintenance in resolving a controls fault, safeguarding uptime.
What you will build and sustain
- Robust PLC logic (Allen-Bradley preferred) to stabilize and enhance manufacturing performance.
- Operator-friendly HMIs that provide clarity, control, and dependable feedback.
- Integrated controls across print, converting, die cutting, collating, finishing, and related production lines.
- Inline vision systems for inspection, quality control, and serialization verification.
- Commercial inkjet, laser, and variable-data printing integrations that fit production workflows.
- Robotics programming and automation to reduce labor, elevate throughput, improve quality, and ensure repeatability.
- Comprehensive electrical documentationdrawings, panel designs, and wiring standardsthat enable repeatable solutions.
- Standardized controls practices and documentation applicable across multiple production areas.
- Equipment upgrades, process improvements, and new automation installations from planning to handoff.
- On-floor troubleshooting with Maintenance and Production to protect uptime.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
How you’ll collaborate
Partner with Process Engineering and Controls Engineering to translate improvement ideas into integrated controls solutions. Work closely with Production, Maintenance, and Operations to ensure smooth adoption and ongoing reliability across print, converting, and die-cutting lines.
Qualifications
- B.S. in Electrical, Controls, or Automation Engineering (or equivalent experience).
- 3–5 years of PLC programming; Allen-Bradley preferred.
- Experience developing HMIs and integrating controls in industrial/manufacturing settings.
- Background supporting production equipment, automation deployments, or manufacturing process improvements.
- Industrial vision experience (Cognex or Keyence) is a strong plus.
- Knowledge of inkjet/laser coding, serialization, or variable-data printing integration is highly desirable.
- Robotics programming experience preferred.
- Skilled at reading and creating electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts; disciplined documentation habits.
- Proven troubleshooting ability on the production floor.
- Effective communicator across Engineering, Maintenance, Production, and Operations.
- Ability to balance project work with hands-on production support.
