Position Summary

Compendium Federal Technology is seeking a Financial Analyst to support the company's core financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial reporting in coordination with our outside accounting firm, which manages year-end bookkeeping, tax filing, and compliance. Reporting to the Chief Contracts Officer, this position plays a key role in maintaining accurate, timely financial records and supporting the financial health of a growing government contracting organization. The Financial Analyst will also serve as backup for select HR, benefits, and contracts functions when the Chief Contracts Officer is on leave or otherwise unavailable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, including invoicing, vendor payments, and collections.
  • Assist in preparing financial reports, schedules, and supporting documentation for the company’s outside accounting firm to support year-end bookkeeping, tax filing, and compliance activities.
  • Reconcile accounts and maintain accurate, organized financial records in accordance with company policy and applicable government contracting requirements.
  • Support budgeting, cost tracking, and financial reporting related to government contracts, as needed.
  • Monitor contract-related financial compliance items (e.g., billing rates, invoicing terms, deliverable schedules) in coordination with the Chief Contracts Officer.
  • Serve as backup for HR, benefits administration, and contracts-related duties when the Chief Contracts Officer is on vacation or otherwise unavailable.
  • Assist with other finance and administrative projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in government contracting, including familiarity with related financial, invoicing, and compliance requirements.
  • Solid, progressively responsible experience in accounting or financial analysis.
  • Proficiency with accounting/ERP software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen (required for clearance eligibility).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active CPA license or CPA candidacy strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Prior experience supporting Accounts Payable/Receivable and financial reporting for a small or mid-sized government contractor.
  • Familiarity with HR and benefits administration functions.
  • Knowledge of BambooHR functionality.
  • Prior use of Unanet software.

Work Location & Schedule

This position is based on-site in Newport News, VA, with the opportunity for a hybrid telework schedule as approved by the Chief Contracts Officer.
