Axion Corporation is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist / Programmer to join our manufacturing team in Huntsville. We're looking for a hands-on machinist who can do more than run a machine someone comfortable programming, setting up, troubleshooting, and running CNC equipment, and taking a part from print to finished product. Experience with Haas machines and controls is strongly preferred.
What You'll Do
- Program, set up, and operate our Haas machining centers UMC-750 (5-axis) and VF-series (any model), 3- and 5-axis
- Write and edit programs from engineering drawings and 3D models; program and/or operate Fanuc controls
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications (including GD&T)
- Determine appropriate tooling, speeds, feeds, and machining processes
- Perform setups, prove-outs, and troubleshoot machining issues
- Inspect finished parts with precision measuring equipment; verify dimensional and quality requirements
- Maintain accurate production and quality documentation
- Work with production and quality to meet customer requirements and delivery schedules
- Keep a clean, organized, and safe work area
What We're Looking For
- Previous CNC machining experience with CNC programming
- Haas experience strongly preferred; comfortable in 3- and 5-axis
- Fanuc programming and/or operation
- Read and work from engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD hold tight tolerances
- Knowledge of tooling, setups, speeds, feeds, and machining processes
- Skilled with precision measuring and inspection equipment
- Strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting, and attention to detail
- Able to work independently and take ownership of your work
- Precision, aerospace, or defense manufacturing experience a plus
- Must meet U.S. Person requirements for ITAR-controlled work
