The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing and performing the day-to-day accounting and financial operations of the organization, demonstrating strong attention to detail, organization, accuracy, and the ability to work independently with limited supervision. Duties include daily bookkeeping and record keeping, financial reporting and the preparation of tax records for financial audits. The Accounting Manager manages accounts payable and receivable, account reconciliations, payroll-related accounting, vendor relationships, financial records, and month-end activities while ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and completed in a timely manner. This position also works closely with company leadership to maintain effective accounting procedures, improve workflows, and provide accurate financial information to support business decisions.
Primary duties/responsibilities:
Accounting Manager will perform various office and accounting duties, including but not limited to:
- Manage the company's day-to-day accounting operations, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, general ledger activity, and account reconciliations.
- Maintain accurate financial records using QuickBooks and other accounting, payroll, banking, and business management systems.
- Review invoices and supporting documentation and compare purchase orders, pricing, payment terms, approvals, and other charges prior to payment.
- Schedule and process vendor payments while ensuring bills are paid accurately and on time.
- Record customer payments and other Accounts Receivable transactions in the appropriate accounting systems.
- Monitor Accounts Receivable balances and assist with resolving payment discrepancies and outstanding balances internally with staff and externally with clients.
- Coordinate and/or process payroll and ensure payroll-related transactions are recorded accurately and completed according to established schedules.
- Perform bank, credit card, general ledger, and other account reconciliations.
- Assist with and oversee month-end and year-end closing procedures.
- Review accounting records for accuracy, completeness, and proper classification.
- Establish and maintain professional relationships with new and existing vendors.
- Maintain vendor records, payment information, tax documentation, contracts, and other required financial documentation.
- Maintain organized and confidential financial records, contracts, negotiations, supporting documentation, notes, and related company information.
- Assist with cash-flow monitoring and provide management with information regarding upcoming payments, receivables, and other financial obligations.
- Prepare internal financial reports and provide accounting information to company leadership as requested.
- Coordinate with outside accountants, tax professionals, auditors, payroll providers, banks, insurance providers, and other financial partners as necessary.
- Assist with annual tax preparation, audits, insurance reviews, and other financial reporting requirements by preparing requested documentation.
- Maintain and enforce appropriate accounting procedures and internal controls to protect company assets and ensure the accuracy of financial records.
- Identify discrepancies, accounting issues, or potential problems and proactively work toward resolution.
- Analyze existing accounting and administrative workflows and recommend improvements that increase accuracy, efficiency, and accountability.
- Develop, document, and maintain accounting procedures and processes as the company grows.
- Protect confidential company, employee, customer, vendor, and financial information.
- Take ownership of assigned responsibilities and consistently meet deadlines with limited supervision.
- Perform additional accounting, financial, and administrative duties as needed in a small-company environment.
Desired Skills & Background
- Strong Competency with QuickBooks required.
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting, bookkeeping, or financial operation experience.
- Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and financial controls.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented.
- Capable of effectively communicating with high-level management as well as day-to-day contacts.
- Must be a self-starter, with excellent time management skills, who is able to work independently.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, and/or Business Administration strongly preferred.
- Master’s degree in related field, Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) certification will be given strong preference.
- Full-time Position based in Norcross, GA – Monday through Friday.
