Electromechanical Maintenance Specialist (Industrial Automation)

Location: Reno, NV | Business: Eaton’s ES GEIS BLD division

Schedule: Core hours are 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM

Compensation: The hourly rate for this position is $34.20 + .50 shift differential per hour.

Imagine starting your day at our Reno facility with a quick walk-through of the production floor. You spot a power press signaling a fault, a conveyor that needs a sensor recalibration, and a VFD requesting a parameter check. By mid-morning, you’ve diagnosed a servo motor issue, updated an HMI screen, and coordinated with a vendor for a specialized part. In the afternoon, you knock out a scheduled preventive maintenance task, weld a small bracket to improve a guard, and log everything in the CMMSkeeping our operation running smoothly and safely.

• Troubleshoot and repair electronic and mechanical malfunctions across plant machinery, facility systems, and related equipment.
• Service mechanical power presses, power transmission devices, conveyors, and un-coilers.
• Install, troubleshoot, and repair PLCs, HMIs, VFD drives, vision systems, motor control centers, power distribution centers, and motors (AC, DC, stepper, servo).
• Work with three-phase/single-phase power and control circuits; design/control panel layouts and perform component installations.
• Execute preventive and reactive maintenance on all production equipment.
• Inspect electrical systems and components for hazards/defects and ensure compliance with National Electrical Code (NEC).
• Install and repair electrical and electronic components of industrial machinery following codes, manuals, schematics, and blueprints using appropriate tools and test equipment.
• Install new and used manufacturing equipment.
• Perform fabrication and machining to support projects and improvements.
• Operate lift trucks, man lifts, and boom lifts to perform elevated work.
• Fabricate devices/mechanisms to improve reliability, efficiency, and safety.
• Perform welding, prototyping, plumbing, painting, masonry, piping, and carpentry as needed.
• Support Continuous Improvement and LEAN initiatives across the facility.

• High school diploma or GED and at least 1 year of maintenance experience; OR Technical school diploma; OR Associate’s degree in electronics or commercial/industrial electrical systems.
• Experience reading electrical/mechanical blueprints and schematics.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
• No relocation is offered. Candidates must be within a 50-mile radius of Reno, NV. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

• 2+ years of PLC troubleshooting or programming experience.
• Five (5) years’ experience in the electrical field within an industrial/manufacturing environment.
• Hands-on experience with Allen-Bradley and Siemens software for PLCs, HMIs, and drives.
• Journeyman Electrician certification.
• Experience with mechanical power presses, roll forming, sheet metal fabrication, and GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding).

• Valid driver’s license.
• Previous CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) experience.
• Microsoft Office proficiency (Outlook, Excel, Word).
• Able to start on 1st shift for training (orientation/onboarding for approximately 4–6 months).
• Vendor coordination skills to troubleshoot, set up, and source parts for a variety of machinery.
• Working knowledge of production equipment including clutch/brake systems, gearboxes, hydraulics, compressed gas, water, and cooling systems.

• Stand for the duration of the shift; kneeling, bending, and climbing required.
• Regularly lift up to 50 lbs without assistance.
• Use required PPE per company policy.
• Work in areas with elevated noise levels (hearing protection may be required).
• Operate in high-traffic areas with forklift activity.
• Work indoors and outdoors as needed.
• Exposure to oils, lubricants, and solvents.
