Quality Assurance Supervisor
Elgin, IL | $75,000–$85,000 | Full-Time
Join a growing North American contract manufacturing and packaging organization supporting leading food, beverage, health, wellness, and consumer brands.
This is a hands-on leadership role overseeing the facility’s QA laboratory and audit functions. You will supervise and develop the quality team, maintain food safety and quality systems, and partner closely with production in a fast-moving, multi-customer manufacturing environment.
What You’ll Do
• Hire, train, schedule, and supervise QA Inspectors and Laboratory Technicians
• Manage plant testing, audit, environmental monitoring, and pest control programs
• Maintain compliance with customer requirements, GMPs, sanitation standards, and food safety plans
• Lead monthly GMP and sanitation inspections and drive corrective action follow-through
• Oversee pre-operational inspections, positive release procedures, hold documentation, and nonconforming material controls
• Support plant start-ups, product trials, customer projects, audits, and regulatory inspections
• Maintain specifications, formulations, QA documentation, laboratory equipment, and testing supplies
• Monitor incoming material testing and acceptance requirements
• Train production and quality employees on food safety, quality procedures, and inspection standards
• Communicate with customers and internal leaders regarding quality issues, documentation, and corrective actions
What We’re Looking For
• 3+ years of quality assurance experience within food manufacturing or packaging
• Previous experience supervising or developing quality personnel
• Working knowledge of GMPs, sanitation, audits, food safety systems, and corrective actions
• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, or another technical field preferred
• Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills required
• Strong documentation, communication, organization, and problem-solving ability
• Comfortable spending time on the production floor and responding quickly to operational needs
• Flexibility to support overtime, alternate shifts, weekends, and employee training when necessary
