Job Title: Restoration Laborer

Job Description

This role supports commercial and disaster restoration projects in the greater Baraboo area by performing a wide range of physical labor and cleanup tasks. You will work closely with an experienced Restoration Technician, assisting with demolition, debris removal, and site cleanup in various commercial properties. After successful training and completion of the contract period, you will have the opportunity to transition into a permanent Restoration Technician role.

Responsibilities

  • Perform demolition work, including ripping and tearing out drywall, flooring, and tiles in commercial properties.
  • Lift, carry, and dispose of debris and materials weighing up to 50 pounds repeatedly, transporting them to designated garbage or disposal areas, including outdoors when required.
  • Clean floors, walls, and ceilings, including removing ceiling tiles from hallways and offices and ensuring surfaces are free of dust and debris.
  • Wipe down and sanitize all surfaces and fixtures to restore facilities to a clean and safe condition.
  • Collect and dispose of trash and construction debris to maintain a clean and organized job site.
  • Support disaster restoration activities, including fire damage and fire restoration, smoke damage remediation and clean up, and water and flood damage restoration.
  • Assist with wet carpet clean up and other water-related remediation tasks as directed.
  • Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively for demolition, removal, and cleanup work.
  • Follow detailed instructions from supervisors and Restoration Technicians to complete tasks accurately and efficiently.
  • Adhere to all safety rules and protocols, including proper lifting techniques and the safe operation of tools and equipment.
  • Communicate clearly with supervisors and team members, reporting progress, issues, and safety concerns in a timely manner.
  • Work 12-hour shifts when needed to support urgent or large-scale restoration projects.
  • Maintain a professional and respectful demeanor while working in a variety of occupied and unoccupied facilities.

Essential Skills

  • Proven general labor experience, preferably in construction, restoration, or a similar physically demanding environment.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds repetitively throughout the workday.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to follow specific instructions and safety rules and to communicate effectively with supervisors.
  • Willingness and ability to work 12-hour shifts when required by project demands.
  • Experience using basic hand tools safely and correctly.
  • Experience using power tools in a construction or general labor setting.
  • Reliability, strong work ethic, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, task-oriented environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in commercial or disaster restoration environments.
  • Comfort working in varied conditions, including potentially dirty, wet, or damaged spaces.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a tenured Restoration Technician and broader restoration team.
  • Interest in developing skills to move into a Restoration Technician role after training.
  • Strong attention to detail when cleaning, removing materials, and preparing sites for restoration.

Work Environment

Work takes place in a variety of commercial properties and disaster restoration sites within approximately 40 miles of Baraboo. You will enter buildings and facilities of all kinds, performing tasks that range from basic cleanup to large-scale restoration projects. The environment can be indoors or outdoors and may include working in all weather conditions and in spaces affected by fire, smoke, water, or other damage. The role is physically demanding, involving frequent heavy lifting, use of hand tools and power tools, and extended shifts when required. Appropriate work attire that can withstand dirty, wet, and physically intensive tasks is expected, along with adherence to all safety guidelines and use of any provided protective equipment.

This is a Permanent position based out of Madison, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $26.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
