Job Title: Project EngineerJob DescriptionThe Project Engineer executes customer test projects from initial planning through setup, fabrication, testing, and completion in accordance with customer statements of work, test plans, and applicable requirements, while supporting project cost, quality, and schedule objectives. This role serves as the primary technical and program interface with customers and is principally responsible for the accurate and on-time execution of test projects across mechanical, electrical, fiber optic, and other engineering disciplines.
Responsibilities- Execute customer test projects from initial planning through setup, fabrication, testing, data analysis, and completion, ensuring alignment with customer statements of work, test plans, and applicable requirements.
- Independently design, set up, instrument, and oversee assigned test activities as required by customer test plans, specifications, and instructions.
- Operate a variety of computer-automated and manual test equipment, including data acquisition systems, environmental chambers, vibration and shock systems, and measurement transducers.
- Design, develop, and assemble test fixtures to meet customer requirements, test plans, and applicable test standards.
- Direct and lead test technicians in support of assigned test activities, providing clear technical guidance and oversight.
- Author test plans, procedures, work instructions, and other technical documentation required for project execution and compliance.
- Analyze, review, and document test data to ensure accurate test results and adherence to internal documentation processes.
- Participate in design reviews, test readiness reviews, and program status meetings with customers and internal personnel.
- Develop strong communication and working relationships with Engineering, Operations, and other internal teams to support project execution and overall company objectives.
- Coordinate project activities, monitor progress, and help ensure that cost, quality, and schedule targets are met.
- Support and, where applicable, manage engineering test projects, including planning, resource coordination, and issue resolution.
- Read, interpret, and follow industry standards, test specifications, and customer test plans to ensure proper test execution and compliance.
- Select, set up, and use data acquisition (DAQ) hardware and software, such as NI LabVIEW, along with associated sensors and transducers, as needed for test article command, control, monitoring, and data collection.
- Collaborate with engineers, technicians, customers, and other departments to address technical challenges and develop practical, creative solutions in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
Essential Skills- Bachelor of Science degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field.
- Minimum of two years of relevant engineering, test, laboratory, or technical project experience preferred, with consideration for recent graduates who have strong hands-on, internship, research, or project experience.
- Demonstrated technical aptitude, strong organizational ability, and high attention to detail.
- Hands-on experience and a solid understanding of basic mechanical and/or electrical concepts.
- Ability to work in a self-directed manner and develop practical, creative solutions in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with customers and internal teams.
- Experience with data acquisition systems (DAQs) used for test article command, control, monitoring, and data collection.
- Interest and ability to work on multiple projects across different engineering disciplines simultaneously.
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work collaboratively with engineers, technicians, customers, and other internal departments.
- Experience running, supporting, or managing engineering test projects.
- Experience reading, interpreting, and following industry standards, test specifications, and customer test plans.
- U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent Resident status, due to access to U.S. export-controlled information.
- Eligibility to be added as a possessor under the organization’s explosives license.
- Valid driver’s license.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Experience selecting, setting up, and using DAQ hardware and software, such as NI LabVIEW, along with associated sensors and transducers.
- Experience with SolidWorks or similar computer-aided design (CAD) modeling software.
- Familiarity with qualification testing, including thermal cycling, vibration, shock, thermal vacuum, electrical testing, or fiber optic testing.
- Background in project management, project engineering, and project coordination in a technical environment.
- Experience in test setup and test fixture design, development, and assembly.
- Ability to prepare clear and accurate test reports and other technical documentation.
- Strong customer service orientation and ability to serve as a primary technical and program interface with customers.
- Comfort working across mechanical, electrical, fiber optic, and other engineering disciplines.
Work EnvironmentWork takes place primarily in climate-controlled laboratory and office environments. Project Engineers regularly work in test laboratories supporting environmental and mechanical testing activities, as well as in standard office areas for project planning, data analysis, and reporting. Some duties may occasionally be performed in warehouse or non-climate-controlled areas when supporting test setup, equipment movement, or handling customer hardware. Depending on the specific laboratory and test requirements, appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety footwear, may be required in designated areas. The campus consists of multiple specialized test facilities serving aerospace, telecommunications, military, and other industrial sectors, offering a professional setting focused on superior customer service and technical excellence.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $120000.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
