Job Title: Forklift Operator

Job Description

This role focuses on operating forklifts in a beverage distribution center to accurately pull, count, and load customer orders. You will spend the majority of your time on a forklift, using RF scanners and related warehouse equipment to prepare shipments for retail and manufacturing customers while maintaining safety, quality, and productivity standards.

Responsibilities

  • Operate forklifts safely and efficiently for approximately 99% of the workday.
  • Pull beverage orders throughout the shift using RF scanners and other warehouse tools.
  • Accurately count cases of beverages to match order requirements.
  • Lift and handle cases of beverages as needed to complete orders.
  • Load trucks with completed orders for delivery to retail locations and local manufacturing plants.
  • Use pallet jacks and walkie riders to move pallets and materials within the distribution center.
  • Perform order picking, packing, and shipping and receiving tasks as assigned.
  • Maintain organized inventory and material handling processes to support accurate order fulfillment.
  • Meet or exceed established pick rate and productivity goals.
  • Follow all safety procedures and warehouse guidelines to ensure a secure work environment.
  • Support general warehouse and labor tasks as needed to keep operations running smoothly.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience operating forklifts in a warehouse or distribution center environment.
  • Hands-on experience with inventory handling and material handling processes.
  • Ability to perform order picking and beverage picking accurately and efficiently.
  • Proficiency using RF scanners for order selection and inventory tracking.
  • Experience with pallet jacks and walkie riders for moving pallets and materials.
  • Experience in shipping and receiving operations within a warehouse setting.
  • Capability to lift and handle cases of beverages throughout the shift.
  • Willingness and ability to work a 3:00 p.m. to midnight schedule, Monday through Friday.
  • Reliability to complete a 90-day contract-to-hire assignment and transition to full-time employment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working in a beverage distribution center or similar warehouse environment.
  • Comfort working in a climate-controlled facility.
  • Ability to maintain consistent pick rates to qualify for performance-based bonuses.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate order pulling and counting.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a warehouse team.

Work Environment

The role is based in a beverage distribution center with a new, climate-controlled warehouse environment. The position follows a Monday through Friday schedule from 3:00 p.m. to midnight. You will primarily operate forklifts and use RF scanners, pallet jacks, and walkie riders to handle inventory and orders. The facility focuses on beverage storage and distribution, supporting shipments to retail locations and local manufacturing plants, with an on-site nurse available to support employee health and safety.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Huntsville, AL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
