Senior Mechanical Project Manager

Pay Rate: $117,000-$195,000/year

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Project Manager with deep experience in commercial and industrial mechanical construction. This is a senior seller-doer role for a mechanical engineering professional who can develop client relationships, estimate and sell work, and lead HVAC, plumbing, process piping, and DDC controls projects from concept through completion.

The ideal candidate has a mechanical engineering degree, at least 10 years of industry experience, and a proven record managing HVAC, plumbing, process piping, and building controls projects. This person must be comfortable owning project financial performance, coordinating field execution, mentoring project engineers, and developing new business.

• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering

• At least 10 years of experience in commercial or industrial mechanical contracting

• Project management experience involving HVAC, plumbing, process piping, or building automation and DDC controls

• Demonstrated ability to develop new business, maintain client relationships, and sell mechanical construction work

• Experience independently preparing conceptual estimates, budgets, scopes of work, proposals, and change orders

• Strong knowledge of mechanical plans, specifications, system design, equipment selection, constructability, and installation sequencing

• Experience managing the financial performance of projects, including forecasting, cost control, billing, procurement, and contract administration

• Experience mentoring project engineers or junior project management professionals

• Excellent client-facing communication, negotiation, organization, and leadership skills

• Ability to work from the Sparks office four days per week

• Ability to travel to regional job sites and, when needed, neighboring states

• Valid driver's license

• Experience with a large commercial mechanical contractor or design-build mechanical construction firm

• Existing relationships with owners, general contractors, developers, facilities leaders, or other mechanical construction buyers in the regional market

• Experience managing mechanical projects ranging from approximately $50,000 to more than $100 million

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, Bluebeam, Smartsheet, Box, JDE, IFS, BidTracer, FastEST, or comparable construction and estimating systems

• Active participation in a construction, engineering, or community organization

• Develop and maintain client relationships while identifying opportunities for HVAC, plumbing, process piping, and controls projects
• Lead client meetings and translate facility or operational needs into practical mechanical solutions
• Perform conceptual engineering, scope development, estimating, proposal preparation, and contract negotiation
• Independently estimate and sell self-generated mechanical construction work
• Serve as the primary point of accountability for clients and internal project teams from pursuit through project closeout
• Manage contracts, procurement, schedules, subcontracts, change orders, billing, cost controls, and project execution
• Coordinate engineering, purchasing, accounting, construction, service, and field leadership
• Plan field labor requirements and installation sequencing with field leadership
• Review plans and specifications for technical accuracy, constructability, scope gaps, and project risk
• Maintain accurate project forecasts and communicate financial performance, risks, and corrective actions
• Mentor project engineers and developing project management staff
• Support recruiting, training, and continuous improvement initiatives

• In-office schedule: four days per week at the Sparks office

• Typical schedule: Monday through Friday; hours may vary based on project and client needs

• Travel: regional branch offices and job sites, with occasional travel to neighboring states

• Job-site activity may require standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling

The annual salary range is $117,000 to $193,500. Actual compensation will depend on job-related skills, relevant experience, education, certifications, training, and work location. Salary is one component of the total compensation package.
