ACTFORE's BI team turns massive, messy datasets into the sensitive-information findings our clients depend on and this work runs on excellent Excel skill. BI Associates are the analytical engine behind it, mining, cleaning, and validating data at scale. Excel experts (wizards) are encouraged to apply!

As a BI Associate, you dive into large semi-structured and unstructured datasets to identify sensitive information, building the Excel models, dashboards, and reports that turn raw data into reliable results. This is a hands-on, individual-contributor role for someone who lives in Excel and takes pride in getting the data right.

Job Summary: The BI Associate reviews and analyzes large data files and datasets to ensure accuracy, compliance, and relevance with legal, regulatory, and operational standards. This role centers on cleaning and extracting information from semi-structured and unstructured data, identifying sensitive information, and maintaining strict confidentiality throughout.

Compensation:

  • $22-$25 hourly wage depending on experience. Bonus and equity earned based on performance

Typical Schedule:

  • Onsite in Reston, VA (inoffice presence required)
  • Full-time role with standard operating hours M-F 9-5:30. This position may require the employee to remain in the office beyond standard working hours until all essential duties and assignments are completed. Work hours may vary depending on workload and business needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze, clean, and validate large datasets to ensure accuracy and consistency
  • Develop and maintain complex Excel models, dashboards, and reports
  • Apply advanced Excel functionality: PivotTables, Power Query, Power Pivot, XLOOKUP, VLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, nested formulas; VBA a plus
  • Identify trends, patterns, and anomalies within large data sets
  • Support data mining efforts by extracting, transforming, and organizing raw data
  • Collaborate with internal teams to understand data requirements and deliver actionable insights
  • Document methodologies, assumptions, and data definitions for consistency across the team
  • Ensure data integrity and adherence to internal data standards

You will be a fit if:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, plus 1+ year of experience as a data analyst, business analyst, or similar role
  • Advanced Excel expertise is a must, ideal candidates will be comfortable with PivotTables, Power Query, Power Pivot, XLOOKUP, VLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, nested formulas, and macros; VBA is a strong plus
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to spot discrepancies in large, messy datasets
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Experience with data mining and/or data cleaning is a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Exposure to SQL, Power BI, or Tableau is a plus
