About Rocket Machining & Design
Rocket Machining & Design is a growing CNC machine shop specializing in precision machining, complex components, prototypes, and production work. We work with customers across a variety of industries and manufacture everything from one-off components to production quantities.
We are looking for an experiencedCNC Machinistwho can take ownership of jobs from start to finish. The right person will be comfortable programming, setting up, machining, inspecting, and troubleshooting their own work.
We are looking for someone who takes pride not only in making good parts, but also in maintaining aclean, organized, and professional work environment.
Responsibilities
- Program CNC machining operations usingAutodesk Fusion 360
- Set up and operateHaas CNC mills
- Work confidently withHaas controllers
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, tolerances, GD&T, and specifications
- Determine appropriate tooling, workholding, speeds, feeds, and machining strategies
- Take jobs from print/model through programming, setup, machining, and final inspection
- Perform first-piece and in-process inspections using appropriate measuring equipment
- Maintain tight tolerances and consistently produce high-quality parts
- Troubleshoot programming, tooling, setup, and machining issues
- Optimize programs and machining processes to improve cycle time and efficiency
- Properly maintain tooling, fixtures, machines, and work areas
- Keep machines and surrounding work areasclean and organized
- Communicate potential problems with prints, programs, materials, tooling, or schedules before they become larger issues
- Work independently while also communicating effectively with the rest of the Rocket team
Required Qualifications
- CNC machining and setup experience
- Proficiency with Fusion 360 CAM - preferred
- Experience withHaas CNC machines and Haas controllers
- Strong understanding of machining fundamentals, tooling, speeds and feeds, and workholding
- Ability to read and understand detailed manufacturing drawings
- Ability to accurately inspect finished components
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to maintain an organized work area and workflow
- Dependable and able to manage jobs with limited supervision
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Takes pride in producing high-quality work
Preferred Experience
Experience in any of the following is a plus:
- 3-axis CNC milling
- 4-axis machining
- 5-axis machining
- Haas UMC series machines
- Complex setups and workholding
- Prototype and low-volume machining
- Tight-tolerance components
- Machining aluminum, stainless steel, tool steels, plastics, and other engineered materials
- GD&T
