HHM Talent is assisting a client who is in search of an Automotive Controller in Hampton, VA.
Position Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Automotive Controller to oversee the accounting operations for two dealerships with a combined sales volume of approximately 200 units per month. Accounting for both locations is handled through a centralized office.
This position is open due to the promotion of the current Controller to Regional Controller, providing the incoming hire with an established operation and an experienced leader who understands the dealerships.
Responsibilities
- Oversee accounting and financial operations for two dealerships
- Lead and support the centralized accounting team
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes
- Prepare and review dealership financial statements
- Ensure accurate and timely manufacturer reporting
- Oversee general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, inventory, and deal accounting
- Review schedules, reconciliations, and financial controls
- Monitor cash flow, expenses, profitability, and departmental performance
- Partner with dealership leadership to provide financial insight and support business decisions
- Maintain compliance with manufacturer requirements and applicable accounting regulations
- Coordinate with external auditors, tax professionals, and financial institutions as needed
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and operational efficiency
Qualifications
- Previous experience as an Automotive Controller or in a comparable dealership accounting leadership role
- Experience with CDK Dealer Management System is a must
- Strong understanding of automotive dealership accounting and financial statement preparation
- Experience overseeing accounting for multiple rooftops is preferred
- Proven ability to manage and develop an accounting team
- Strong knowledge of dealership month-end closing procedures, reconciliations, and internal controls
- High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail
- Ability to communicate effectively with dealership leadership and accounting staff
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary up to $150,000, based on experience
